Fitzy to take over the ground announcer role for our games at the Adelaide Oval, I mean anyone would be better than Phillips!

Just on Polec:

'Voss enjoyed a close relationship with Polec in their three seasons together and says two critical factors have led to the wingman coming of age in 2014.'

Polec and Voss have remained in contact this season and Voss said he was thrilled with midfielder’s progress at Alberton.

“I built a really strong relationship Jared, especially last year,’’ Voss said.

“I’m really interested in how he goes, because, even though it wasn’t his best time at Brisbane, you fell like you’ve invested in his progress.'

Having requested a trade at the end of 2013, Polec was given a clip on the way out the door by former teammate Pearce Hanley who labelled Brisbane’s wantaway youngsters as “mummies’ boys” on Twitter.

But one man who didn’t hold a grudge was his old coach Michael Voss - who had already been sacked by the Lions - and helped Polec begin the long road back.

“He (Voss) was messaging me saying ‘how’s your training going?’ and he guided me through the trade,” Polec said.

“I still thank him to this day. Especially the last six-to-eight months at Brisbane trying to get me settled and turn me into a professional footballer he always showed faith in me.

“But in the end he said ‘you’ve got to do what makes you happy, it’s at home isn’t it?’”

Brilliant, well done.

Voss will be a senior coach again - I have no doubt that he sees the PAFC as a fantastic opportunity to advance his career back into coaching. Terrific partnership.

Bloody fantastic that we can attract a bloke like this.

Just hope we have him for a few years!

Probably be senior next year... going by recent history

Wow. So excited! What a catch

Great signing :) Welcome Vossy!

Voss, who won the Brownlow Medal in 1996 and the coveted Players Association ‘Most Valuable Player’ award in 2002 and 2003, says he is very excited to be joining the coaching team at Port Adelaide.

“Joining Port Adelaide is a chance to be part of a fantastic journey with a group of exciting young players,” said Voss.

“The brand of footy played under Ken Hinkley and the continued growth of the club over the last two years has been very impressive and I am looking forward to contributing to that journey.”
