Voss was part of the midfield that was at the coalface when Walsh was trying to engineer their demise from 01-04, so he would know better than anyone that you can use as many tactics as you want...but it's no substitute for heart and the will to win.

I think a coach that advocates a more adaptive approach to midfield stoppages - teaching the mids how to react tactically to various situations rather than stick to a dogmatic plan - will be a huge benefit. Voss seems to be that type of guy.

“I still thank him to this day. Especially the last six-to-eight months at Brisbane trying to get me settled and turn me into a professional footballer he always showed faith in me.

I dont mind it. Makes the club more 'family-like' and getting quality kids in makes our academy better. We wont have rights to ANY of the kids that go through our academy (unless they happen to be Port f/s eg Tex Wanganeen). I suppose we hope the kids get some sort of attachment/bond/familiarity that pays off later down the track if these kids look to return to SA.

I think this is going to work really well for you guys, and for Vossy. I reckon if Voss wants to be a senior coach again there is no better person to learn from than Hinkley, and if you want your midfielders to work both ways Voss is the man to teach that.

Vossey wont be rushing to a senior position, openly admits he went the wrong way about it last time and would be settling in for the long haul at Port.

3 years minimum I would guess, which makes this pick up even better for you.
