I was wondering where all this talk about a headlock came from, nice of the PAFC Facebook page to put up a pic of the encounter.

Jared Polec excited about prospect of working alongside Michael Voss again at Port Adelaide

Voss’ arrival at Alberton will also reunite him with dashing wingman Polec who he coached at Brisbane from 2011 to 2013.

Polec was traded from the Lions to the Power last year but has maintained a close relationship with Voss who helped him with his decision to move back to SA and off-season training.

Port Adelaide said Polec was unavailable to speak with the media yesterday but he Tweeted that he was “stoked” to have Voss in charge of the Power’s midfield.

“So much more to learn. Great man on and off the field!” Polec wrote on Twitter.

Earlier this year the 22-year-old told The Advertiser that Voss had a big influence on his career.

“He (Voss) was messaging me saying ‘how’s your training going?’ and he guided me through the trade,” Polec said.

“I still thank him to this day. Especially the last six to eight months at Brisbane, trying to get me settled and turn me into a professional footballer. He always showed faith in me.

In July Voss said Polec’s rapid improvement came as “no surprise to me”.

“Jared has always shown glimpses of being able to do that but he just lacked continuity,” Voss said.

“I think what Jared had to figure out first and foremost was that AFL doesn’t come on a platter.

“When he realised just how hard it was and that the opportunity wasn’t just going to come because he could play football … that was when he was going to become a serious AFL footballer.

“Sometimes it takes guys two or three years to work that out, that no one’s going to just give it to me’.”

It was only last week Voss was sitting the next table over from me at The Original Cafe where I have my lunch most days. The Cafe is nearby Fox Footy studios, so alot of footy personalities frequent there. I usually start up conversations with other footy personalities such as Sheahan, Kingy, Brad Johnson etc, but decided not to with Voss because I assumed he wouldn't want to talk to a Port fan because of our history with the Lions. If only I knew last week what I know now. Welcome to PA Voss you star.

Ps, I had a crack at Sheahan for discussing PA for all of 65 seconds and Essendon for 25 minutes when he had Wangas on Open Mike. But I got Wanga's signature which was great.

I'm really hoping Vossy can turn Andrew Moore into the player a top 10 draft pick should be. I was surprised when Port nominated him for the GF sprint, but I was amazed he made the final and finished mid-field. Even Usain Bolt looked impressed. So he has a bit more pace than I thought.

There was talk a few clubs inquired after Moore in the trade period and Port knocked them back so Ken and co must see something there, especially as he held his spot all through the finals campaign.

I took notice of the sprint as well and thought he is not as slow as some people thought.
Think he will be 24 next year so should hit his straps. I hope you are right about Voss getting the best out of him.

I think Moore really did add a lot to our midfield late in the year and into finals as that extra big body to help will the ball forward. He's no where near his ceiling, hopefully Voss can help him turn potential into performance.

Yea I'm hoping Voss get's in his head, we all know there is something about Moore I still think it's a belief thing with him.... nothing would please me more than to see him become the midfield beast he should be.

might as well just call it port adelaide recruit.
Why not, according to the Camry Corporation, Fox have been giving us a leg up for the last 2 years anyway. Let's take it to the next level.

Moore only really lacks one thing at the moment - the belief he belongs in that midfield on a weekly basis. Still a little bit tentative in his attack on the ball. At SANFL level he looks and plays like he knows he's the big cheese. Transfer that belief to AFL football and he'll fulfill the promise.

I think Port fans may look back on this week as being one of the great weeks in the history of the club: Voss on Tuesday, and Ryder yesterday. Two pivotal personnel are coming to Alberton, and I reckon we should all be incredibly excited!!!!

Ha! They get the biggest leg up from the local media to the point of absurdity. They can talk.

Moore and Wines to develop massively with Voss.
Hoff and Ryder freeing each other up.
Could be huge next year. Can't wait.

What Voss will do for Wines, Moore, Young is a given.
I'm particularly looking forward to seeing him make a confident clean-handed extractor and clearance machine out of Kane Mitchell. Imagine what that would bring to our overall structure.

Unfortunately for them, they've raised their eyes, but only as far as the South Australian media and are walking among short people.

Nek minnit, the swampies down the road are the darlings of the National media. They jealously bag Kochie at every opportunity, forgetting the fact our football is what has everyone talking, and the turnaround from our struggles of a few years ago.

You come from 14th to 6th having knocked off Collingwood at a 'G' Final one year, and leap to 3rd on the back of beating a Ross Lyon Freo away before succumbing by less than a kick to the eventual premiers gets a bit of notice.

They are swallowing some sour grapes at the moment. The wheel of football fortune turns though.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong but I don't think Mitchell will get a game next year unless we have significant injuries. If Voss can improve Mitchell I would be surprised (and hope to be).
I may be doing some work in HK next year (I think you are from there?), hopefully I can spread the PAFC brand abroad as well!

You have great faith not only in Voss's ability but even more faith in Mitchell's. I am not sure if Kane has the skill level myself but it should be very interesting to see how he pans out.
