OK **** it, here's your negatives.

- Taking on the Brisbane job with no AFL assistant experience. One of the most important things in any professional is to have a good understanding of your own capacity. This move pretty much said that Vossy has no such understanding.

- Clearing out the assistant coaches at the end of his first year. Sure they were all Leigh Matthews' guys, but they were a better brains trust than Vossy put in place. Wayne Brittain was his key recruit. Jade Rawlings another. What the ****.

- Fevola. What the **** was that. So now we know he's a shit judge of character too.

If you want a guy to be a football legend walking around the place and give a few gee-ups, Vossy will be great, but IMO he's going to be a deadweight in terms of judgement. If Kenny is Mr Tactics, great, but we're building a very Ken-dependent coaching team if we're going to rely that heavily on him - at least we knew Phil could carry the load tactically, as could Alan Richardson. We've replaced them with two Brians that were never talked about as being among the smartest players in the game. Talented or determined, sure.

Also now that we are a `success' again, sure its nice to be able to pull the big names, but the big names aren't always the best names. Richmond & Collingwood's patchy periods of poaching profiled players produced a paucity of positives. Just because we can pick anyone, it doesn't mean its easier to make the decision - its harder, you need to pick smarter, because all of a sudden `who is available' is far less important than `what do we specifically need'. If thats Voss, great, but IMO he's a character recruit, not a smarts one.
And this is why you are one of the podcast hosts.

Voss seems like the type that would thrive as a development coach, but being basically Ken's 2IC, you need way more than that.

If we kept him on, that is the role I would have him in. I think our player development personell could be much better.

Often the greats don't make great coaches, because they don't know how to explain/teach something that came so naturally to them. Not always the case, but looking to be this way with Voss.

Statistically, our ability to win clearances against our opponents has steadily decreased year on year until we are now the leagues worst performers in clearances languishing with Brisbane and Carlton.

We have the midfield cattle in Boak, Wines, R.Gray and even Hartlett who win plenty of contested ball around the ground (i.e. they can get in and win it) but for whatever reason we can't convert that into clearances. Now past evidence suggests that these players should not just lose the ability to win the footy, so it's probably down to the midfield tactics and strategy.

Last night the effort and intensity in defensive pressure was fantastic in the first quarter and the fans loved it! That's unsustainable if you simply can't break even in the middle.

Kenny says that we have been working really hard at training in the stoppages area but perhaps the structures are simply not good enough.

Do you know where Brisbane finished in Clearances differential to their opponents every year under Michael Voss? (16th, 15th, 17th, 17th, 16th)
Sure he was head coach not midfield coach, but being a "midfield general" he probably played a key role in the strategy in this area.

Not sure if anyone really thought this appointment through past "Michael Voss - what a tough, hard, champion footballer"

im not blaming Vossy, i am blaming our #1 Ruckman

It's not all Lobbe, although he has zero skills outside of being a tap ruckman, he's in the top 10 ruckmen in the league for hit outs. Is he hitting them to the wrong spot? Are we reading the taps wrong?

Who would help in this area? Who are our midfield and ruck coaches? Vossy and Greaves?

He's too busy handing out Jesus Harts U stickers.
Hey I'm not a believer in anything but I think I've read a few times something to him about the happy chappy thing and unless it is interfering with his job I don't think this is a fair thing to be critical about

Michael Voss saying there is no doubt you are reading this thread could you please set up a sock puppet and give some comment or defence glimmer insight hope light anything

I disagree.

Forget Lobbe.
When you have two close up beasts in Wines and Boak plus two clearance beasts in Gray and Wingard we should win more stoppages than not no matter who is in the ruck.

Start being too tricky and you'll end up tricking yoursef.

Some of us might owe port always an apology.

His posts around May last year don't seem so outrageous twelve months on.
