Because if it do with us in the media, thats where it goes. Makes it easier than looking through all the other threads to find something that was in the media.
It's not rocket surgery.
What is "rocket surgery"? You don't seem to have answered my point, however. We are all, on this thread, referring to media on another thread. Tell me what I'm missing. If the media being posted does not directly relate to a particular thread then I would understand the necessity of posting on a media-only thread but in this case it seems a little counter intuitive.

How do we know that getting Roos would have been any different to getting Malthouse.

Well, hate to be obvious but, they're two completely different people.

A lot of people on here are being critisised for thinking that Malthouse is the messiah, but the ones who want Roos are doing the exact same thing.

I don't think Roos or anyone is a messiah. I would just rather have him than Malthouse, but since we're getting Mick, I'll back him while he's here.

No one knows if Malthouse will be successfull, but he is a proven, flag winning coach who IMO is the best available. I still think we should have kept Ratts, but he's gone and we've got the best coach out there who wants to coach.

The problem with Mick is, he'll be gone in a few years and so we'll need a new coach again. We've taken a risk here and now we have to hope it works out. Mick's not dumb, you don't coach for all those years if you're a shit coach, but I suspect we will be looking for board members and a new president along with a new coach if it doesn't work.

Television = Media
Media = Media Thread
Rocket Surgery = Taking the piss.

Probably because regulars know that anything in the media about Carlton in the media thread, and because we don't want to make demands on posters who give of their time to create these videos that we would not otherwise have access to unless we recorded all of these shows and watched them to pick out the content. I really don't think it is a big issue when you are getting the content for free. If you are looking for a video, ask the question in an appropriate thread and someone will soon point it out.

I'd hate for posters like wookie to feel unappreciated and opt not to do it anymore. For mine, it has been the single biggest positive on the boards this year.
Understood and appreciate that the system would have its merits. Just wandering whether a little flexibility would not go astray. I am a fairly regular reader (just not poster) but admit that I did not catch on to this. Thanks for the response though ODN. Again I appreciate the need for such a thread but just wonder whether it is necessary for all media posting.

Mick is very set in his ways, he'll make you play defense first, it'll be up to the assistant coaches to sort out the finer points of play, Micks biggest asset IMO is players play for him, he will put up with zero shit, any player that doesn't go hard enough-shirk a contest-goes against his game plan will find themselves on a spit and playing VFL the following week.

A long running joke combining rocket science and brain surgery. Somebody in the public domain at some time has used it.

Well no, it still belongs in the media thread as it keeps a catalogue of all of our media in one spot for years to come, rather than having to search through threads for it. If you are suggesting that it could or should be posted in another relevant thread as well as the media thread, yes it could. If a poster wants to take it upon themselves to do that, then they can free free. It is not a requirement for unpaid moderators to second guess where people will go looking for content and spend their days replicating that content is every possible place and it is not a requirement for the posters creating the content to have to post it in more than one place. We tend to help each other out around here, not tell each other they should be doing something better for the ease of those who don't want to spend a lot of time on the site. The people commenting on that video have the option to repost the video in this thread, as do you.

He was just kidding.

BTW I see your point about it, but you can't expect people to post the same thing in 2 different threads everytime. The media thread is the designated thread for all things Carlton related in the media, so it is the obvious place to go if you want to check out vids, or read articles.

Thanks and I understand your points. Yes, I certainly think that posting it twice would make more sense. Understand also that this ought not to be a requirement. Just a polite suggestion resulting from my experiences here. Please forgive me if it's perceived that I'm suggesting that I could do any better that the mods here. :)

Not necessary but desirable as all the content is in one place so it is an easy reference library. Happy for anybody to repost any of that content in the various threads though. Just don't want to make it anybody's specific job to do so.

Anyway, perhaps I'll go back to lurking.

Interesting times these. Just hope Carlton can work out this MM deal ASAP so we can start preparing for 2013.

I have been in the US for 7 years and am finally coming back home (Melbourne) in November 2012. Just can't wait to get back to seeing it all live again. Really miss the atmosphere of a blockbuster Carlton Versus Collingwood/Essendon MCG game.

Don't see anything wrong with this

I guess my issue with what Mick says here is that he talks about our lack of tall forwards, without recognising we have a few in development who have been injured. For Collingwood he talked about Cloke, Brown and Dawes, two of who are hardly worldbeaters, just targets. He mentioned Vardy as one of the Cats strings, a developing player. He seems to think we have Waite and nothing else so we need Cloke. What this says for Casboult, Mitchell and Rowe, I have no idea. We also have the option of going for a defender and moving Henderson forward. In fact this is a great idea, because Henderson is more of a swing man proposition than most others being talked about. If a defender goes down Henderson gets put back, like a Daniel Bradshaw, or Alastair Lynch.

I share your concern ODN, I would hope that once he has met the staff and players he'll appreciate our young talent coming through and continue to develop it.

No, you're out now, run with it!

Most of us are used to being in the dog house, week to week, day to day, thread to thread. You'd have to be extraordinary controversial and unrepentent for it to affect your long term reputation.

Could be a good time to return football wise.

Exactly. I don't want him to dismiss or discard our young players because he doesn't know much about them. I want him to develop them and encourage them.

Don't recall Mick dropping Didak and Pendlebury who still hear footsteps.

This is a great opportunity for MM as well. We shouldn't forget that. This will be his last coaching gig & with his healthy ego, he will want to go out with something special. To get a very good list + the money Carlton are offering + the chance to win a flag with 2 of the big 4 clubs. That would cement his place in footy history. There is no way he would take on the likes of Melbourne, WB or even Richmond. Despite his coy responses in the media, I reckon he wants the job bad.

From a Carlton point of view, we just have to hope that his push for success is a unifying force within the club & not a devisive one.

Tend to agree, Quite clearly the most experienced and successful coach available at the moment. If he’s still got the drive (As he says he does) then I see no problem.

Seems a good fit for both parties.

Both of those players aren't the most physical, but i wouldn't put Pendles in Didaks class for shirking, they play to their strenghs and different players have different strenghs.

Depending on MM's memory and sense of justice, we may as well see what we can get for Dylan B right now. After what I saw his father do to MM one day back in the 80's, can't see him playing too many games.
