Depending on MM's memory and sense of justice, we may as well see what we can get for Dylan B right now. After what I saw his father do to MM one day back in the 80's, can't see him playing too many games.

1982 I believe, in the middle of the MCG, a glorious coat-hanger.

Jimmy, Big Jack & Rhys are doing a business lunch at my old footy club this Friday.

Should be interesting.

Yep. MM came off the ground with a mouth like a venetian blind. Memories...

Exactly. I don't want him to dismiss or discard our young players because he doesn't know much about them. I want him to develop them and encourage them.
You're nearly there ODN - I am reading a chirpier tone in your voice. You don't have to worry about him dismissing young players and everyone will have the same chance to impress the new coach (there would only be a couple who do not need to, as is always the case when a new coach takes over - and part of the beauty of it)

I would say that he was relevant when he was premier of Victoria pulling the State out of the Cain/ Kirner abyss ( fairly relevant if you were a teacher getting sacked). Then after 6 years he got delusions of grandure, lost an unlosable election and left the labour party an increable war chest that decimated the State liberal party for a decade. Interestingly the election was on the day of the greatest game of football ever (1999 prelim). ?Since that day though - irrelevant.
yeah, I'm quite certain that he was entirely relevant while he was selling off the states entire infrastructure... thereby screwing the state of fixed revenue streams for the future. I can quite understand your angst after getting sacked.

It's not a case of me getting there Coach. It's a case of Malthouse getting there for me. His choice of words in the first instance was not ideal. He has since rectified and sounded more enthusiastic and more respectful of our club and the things that need to be done before we start slicing and dicing. I'd be having the same hesitation towards any incoming coach who was coming across bigger than the club.

The other thing he has done is dismissed notions of 5 year plans and the like, saying there was a job to do and he would get on with it. He knows he is there to lift us to the top echelon of clubs within the next 3 years. That's what I wanted to hear.

There was some fox sports dick on yesterday saying that Mick was told about how our football club worked during his interview, and his contention was that Mick would have been thinking, 'okay, changing that, changing that, changing that' right off the bat. I hate this notion that we are considered a basketcase club when we have been challenging and improving for a few years. I did not want MM to be thinking the same. We obviously had to have been doing some things right.

What are you on about? ODN had every right to question MM especially with the way he was talking. Now that MM has started to change his tune, it really shouldn't come as a surprise that people have started to change their tune towards him.

Is 4 living in the corridor of uncertainty as he watches the MM posse heading over the hill towards him?
4 being Sticks? Malthouse has actually been building him up. Says he is impressive and a real footy person. Comments like that will got a long way to shoring his position up, at least for the next couple of years.

Try another 4...

Try another 4...

4 and another 4? Justin Madden?

Gibbs looked a little harder vs the Saints I thought, or did I imagine that? Might just be the unshaven look.

He was like a kid on Christmas Day. That was probably the least reserved I've seen Malthouse during a media interview. He is chomping at the bit.
This is quite possibly the first time MM has walked straight into a club that is, with a minimal amount of polish, ready to compete for a premiership. No wonder he is chomping at the bit...

Just checked 26 disposals, 10 contested possessions, 10 tackles. Quite an un4 like set of numbers. Thought he was going inside a bit more.

Spot on like Pollock on a Dalmatian rug. :thumbsu:

Where 's he going?
Not sure where we are going, but given we have made such a big move, and a harsh call on Ratts, don't be surprised if I periodically kick the back of the seat, and ask if we are there yet.

What about the steroid induced state team he inherited at the eagles.

:D I have a feeling I am no. 4 will be the centerpiece used by MM to show off his transformation abilities. Consider Mr. Gibbs as the wallflower before a prom, just ripe for the make over.
Great bone structure, killer physique, perfect hair...all hidden under drab utilitarian clothing.(ie:stuck in the back line to cover injuries)
Enter the Master Mick, who weaves his re structuring magic, and VA VA VOOOM! 4 becomes an overnight 5 star player. (midfield/forward)
Oooh...you are a GENIUS MM. Wowee..oh boy!!!:p

I write this, because I heard him commentating about it one day on 3AW.
That was the day I knew he was already lined up as the new coach.
Think he said something like, 'Now why would you use an elite player like Gibbs in a tagger role? What a waste.'

ha nicely put

I heard him comment on Juddy, earlier in the year when he was out of form, he said something like "the champ is struggling, why not put him off half back where he can get his hands on it".............he also loves Kade was raving about him on another occasion
