Would be nothing better then seeing Mick coach Carlton to a win over Collingwood next year.

:p.

Expensive exercise all this, Ratts = Pay out....Barker Riley and maybe Williams will not be wanted under malthouse and wll all be paid out that last year. Think Brown is the only certainty to stay, Richo more than likely, but the rest?

Surely Mick would want to pick his own group around (all coaches do) geez we love throwing the coin around.

"Would Ratts get sacked if Mick wasn't available for the job"

Cue Silence.

was a bit comedic imo. Firstly Sticks stated that Mick was only in the mix, and then couldn't answer the question. Has me more convinced that the whole saga has been Fait accompli.

What is wrong with going through due process. It isn't like last year when a glut of jobs hit the market and all clubs without a coach were scrambling to get what was available. Malthouse won't be going nowhere especially a basket case club like Port so the Blues have time to consider all their options and make the best decision going forward. One man who should be considered also as he is a great match day coach and has a proven track record with his previous teams is Eade. A team like Carlton is ready made for him to come in and take them to a flag. The Blues already have the personnel, They just require the right man. I do NOT believe MM is the right man at his age.

Eade is not exactly a spring chicken and was sacked by Bulldogs.. Enough said..

If we get malthouse it will bring in around $500,000 or there abouts worth in membership sales. Had we not, that is likely what we would lose after a season like this. This season will damage membership sales. It's the changes and bringing of new hope that will sell memberships.

Just on this, Carlton have done the right thing, we had got all we could out of Ratts and the rest of the footy department. We are at a stage where we need to take the next step.

I'm excited about the prospect of Malthouse leading us and the changes that I believe we will see.

Robert Walls said it best when declaring that this whole saga had the stench of Pagan.

Reactionary board attempt to save face by sacking incumbent and replacing him with a high profile decorated mercenary who promises success but delivers nothing and thereby trashes the Carlton brand worse than if the original coach had stayed.

The ball's in your court Michael Malthouse. Don't stuff it up.

In all fairness to Ratten, Pagan was a gimp. I wouldn't object to Malthouse or Roos taking the helm. Roos would be an interesting choice because no doubt he will focus on our defensive game plan which has been non-existent for the past decade.

Sticks in fine form again, seriously, did he not think that would be the one of the main questions to be asked?

The fact he had no reply set up showed me how terrible he is at his job. He did the same thing earlier this year and is a HUGE reason for this media circus.

How do we know the MM is asking for 1 Mill+ ? Maybe he is asking for quite a bit less, maybe in the 750 - 800K mark. Who knows.

If sticks isn't the right man for the job, then who is??

Thylacine60 (I bet I got the number wrong), make it happen Swanny :thumbsu:

C'mon guys, do you honestly expect Sticks to be professional? Every time you see him you can't help but picture the mullet and him belting out 'Stand by Your Man'. I don't even reckon he thinks the presidency job is legitimate. It's like having Lance Whitnall as the fitness coach

Paul Roos has been rumoured to coach us for the last 6 years he always comes up for some reason i highly doubt it he said hes finished

Did you think about the possibility that it was intentional?

They better start throwing the kitchen sink at Roos, think he is a much better option (especially long term) than MM.

The group really needs a logical rather than emotional coach. MM is just as emotional as Ratts where as Roos is far more logical and less inclined to have favourites.

I can't
imagine that they'd have sacked Ratts, if there was not at least a handshake agreement with MM.

As for Roos, he has consistently said he won't leave Sydney until his son completes his HSC next year.
I believe Paul's wife has a big say in what the family do, and where they live.

Personally, I am very sad for Ratts, who showed himself a true champion today at the presser. As I think maybe Mark Maclure said, it would have been good to let him coach again next year, with a fit list, and see how far we could go, and then we'd have had, at least a choice of a few more veterans to chhose from. ex.Paul Roos.

Still it's done and dusted now. I love the CFC, and will continue to support them, flawed as they are.
