Opinion Mick Malthouse MEGA THREAD

I don't really have any preference for Malthouse over Roos or vice versa but Mick it is. Both would bring the most important missing link to the team; mental toughness.

Mick will commit to the job and work his arse off to get it done. A few players are going to get a big wake up call next year.

He was like a kid on Christmas Day. That was probably the least reserved I've seen Malthouse during a media interview. He is chomping at the bit.

Yep - that is how I saw the interview - Malthouse was almost saying 'please'. I get the feeling he knows he is second choice...

He is only second choice with a few on here. He has always been the clubs number 1 choice to take over from Ratten, for quite some time.

I don't 'get' the preference for Roos based on performance anyway - maybe Malthouse as an ex Collingwood Coach is the thing that irks a bit. I know it was my reaction at first - which isn't particularly rational I must admit.

I guess my issue with what Mick says here is that he talks about our lack of tall forwards, without recognising we have a few in development who have been injured. For Collingwood he talked about Cloke, Brown and Dawes, two of who are hardly worldbeaters, just targets. He mentioned Vardy as one of the Cats strings, a developing player. He seems to think we have Waite and nothing else so we need Cloke. What this says for Casboult, Mitchell and Rowe, I have no idea. We also have the option of going for a defender and moving Henderson forward. In fact this is a great idea, because Henderson is more of a swing man proposition than most others being talked about. If a defender goes down Henderson gets put back, like a Daniel Bradshaw, or Alastair Lynch.

An interesting response to the question about who Malthouse met with from the club. He confidently states that he me with Sticks & Swann & then very quietly says & 1 or 2 others. I would love to know who the 1 or 2 others are. Bruce Mathieson perhaps? Jeannie Pratt? Juddy?

Really excited about the prospect of Mick coaching the Blues. Terrific coach, and with the depth of talent that Carlton have, I think Mick could definitely get the best out of them.

Sorry if I'm not keeping pace here but why would you have to go and search through the media thread for something that logically belongs here. Surely this thread is the right context for the Channel 7 interview. I
would suggest that media without a direct context/thread should go in the media thread. I spent about 10 minutes looking for that interview within this thread because it seemed the appropriate place to look. Thanks to Loramarthalas' correct posting ignorance (and mine, apparantly) I found it. Anyhow, just my 2 bits.

It belongs in the "Carlton in the Media (articles, podcasts etc)" thread as it relates to Carlton in the media.
We have the Media thread for that specific purpose.

It has also been posted in this thread.

Probably because regulars know that anything in the media about Carlton in the media thread, and because we don't want to make demands on posters who give of their time to create these videos that we would not otherwise have access to unless we recorded all of these shows and watched them to pick out the content. I really don't think it is a big issue when you are getting the content for free. If you are looking for a video, ask the question in an appropriate thread and someone will soon point it out.

I'd hate for posters like wookie to feel unappreciated and opt not to do it anymore. For mine, it has been the single biggest positive on the boards this year.
