Not all great players can teach though. Being able to do something yourself, doesn't mean you have the ability to extract the same instincts out of others. For a start, players have physical differences and different strengths and weaknesses. Then you have to look at how the game is seldom one on one these days and that is where Jakovich excelled. He has limited coaching experience despite being the best defender of his generation as you say. I'd disagree with that by the way, best CHB perhaps, but fullbacks like Silvagni would be better and Langford would go close.Glen Jackovich was the greatest defender of his time by miles. Pretty sure he would have a lot to teach the guys in Carlton's current backline.
