Hmm indeed, Duigan has a long way to go :D

Nice, Malthouse and Buckley lol (of the non-FIGJAM kind :D)

Well of course the old man thinks he can get Cloke, they dont have a salary cap at Carlton do they ? Goodluck with him, as Walls said, one premiership in 17 years, he aint no Messiah. Enjoy his boring boundary line gameplan, his ego, his arrogance and his refusal to listen to anybody. He plays favourites, and is just so stubborn and old fashioned its beyond belief. Sour grapes, nah, we passed him over as coach for many reasons, he played unfit players in last years GF, and made Hawkins a star by not moving a very injured Ried off him, so goodluck with his "tactics", for want of a better word. You should have let Rats see out his contract then get Roos, this is just a quick fix by your Board. Can see MM being Pagan 2, at 60 he is well past his best. !

Yes, you don't seem at all bitter.

I wonder if Tony Jones's ears have stop bleeding yet? Wow MM really does have to fire burning to Coach again, been a long time since ive seen Mick tear strips of Journos.
BTW: Fox Sports coverage of the press conference was Pathetic, dropping out and missing important questions and answers..
Cant wait till we play the Filth next year, bring it on..

whaaaaaaaa, whaaaa I miss teh Malthouses :(
Where on earth did I say anything about Cloke.

My post was having a laugh at Nick Maxbogan and making note of Dylan Buckley.

If Malthouse is Pagan2, that must mean that Figjam is Tony Shaw2..

Just read the filth board. Gee they're a funny, bitter lot.

"Malthouse is past his best" / "He's an angry old man" / "Got the feeling this will be Pagan mark II"

Seriously, why can't they just acknowledge they messed up when moving Malthouse on?

In 2010, they had a 17/4/1 record and won the GF convincingly. In 2011 they had a 20/2 record and should have won the premiership if not for key injuries and underdone players. In my view, he was at the peak of his powers at the Pies.

I'm not saying he will win us a premiership, but to suggest he's past it is absolutely ridiculous.

The difference between Pagan taking over and Malthouse is that the latter will be inheriting a fairly decent list with a truckload of talent, as opposed to a shocker back in '03. There's plenty of young talent in our team and I'm sure we will recruit some more who are ready made. The senior players like Judd, Carrots, Simmo, Waite hopefully will last Mick's first contract, and by then I am hoping we have developed and nurtured some more talent so that it will keep us strong for years the years beyond.

I just hope that we aren't putting all our eggs in one basket and going hard for a flag over the next 3 years. We need to have an eye for the years beyond that when the likes of Judd and Carrots aren't around, because as well have seen in the past, when you go back down the bottom, it takes a long time to work your way back up. This is why I respect teams like Geel and Syd, they have always been smart in the trading, recruiting and have always been competitive and never looked like being down near the bottom.

At least MM seemed to be able to get players to play for the Collingwood jumper. That's something your current coach is struggling with.

^^^^^^^^
Just a slight preview of the hilarious crap they are saying about our coach on their board.
Borrowing words from Chandler Bing, could they BE any more bitter?

Yes, you don't seem at all bitter.
What that poster's rant doesn't point out is that Malthouse is one of only 2 coaches in more than 50 years to achieve premiership success at Collingwood, with the other one of course being one of the most successful coaches in the modern era.

Collingwood is a club that has broken the heart of the likes of Bobby Rose, Tom Hafey, Leigh Matthews (only a handful of years after breaking a 32 year premiership drought), Tony Shaw & even in the early days of his tenure, Mick Malthouse. It is not a club that strings together premierships. It is a club whose supporters (from the president down) overrate everything that the club achieves & that is why even coaches who have had premiership success at other clubs, struggle to deliver the ultimate success at Collingwood. How many times have you heard a Collingwood supporter proclaim, after losing another GF, "at least we were there"? Collingwood players don't have to achieve premiership success to be put on a pedestal by Collingwood supporters. Just pulling on a Collingwood jumper apparently is enough.

Yes Malthouse only achieved premiership success on one occasion at Collingwood, but given the minimal success achieved by Collingwood over the last 50+ years, that says more about the club culture than the coach.

One flag is 17 years is better than 1 flag in 32 years! Writing was on the board when Mick won the flag in 2010 and had to ask Eddie from the daias what was happening with his contract. Eddie's infatuation with Buckley has cost you a premiership coach. I would be more concerned about all of the friction in the ranks i.e Jolly, & Swann, and the split it has caused in your club. I just hope you make the Grand Final so i can enjoy watching the Hawks absolutely spank you.

what im impresssed about malthouse, is how quickly he gets the team into a grand final.

took over eagles in 1990, 1st grand final appearance in 1992
took over pies in 99, 1st grand final appearance in 2002

now im not saying that it will happen to carlton (but i wish), matlhouse structures and directions is very good.

a good attribute about malthouse is how to get the best out of the young kids and develope them well. kinda like Sir Alex Ferguson

In the 3rd year of Micks contract with Carlton he will pass Jock McHales record of 713 games coached.... making Carlton the club that he reaches that record at and the club he will be forever known as belonging to ........... He will pass this record in approximately, depending on finals, Round 3 2015. WHo do we normally play round 3? :)

Quick, someone post it in the Filth's Malthouse mega thread :D

EDIT: Done.

I am responding to you here because if I do so on our board another horrible image of Mick will appear. I don't blame you for being happy that Mick has signed, he is a very good coach and will in all probability make Carlton a better side. What you will realise over time however is that he has his faults, some of which will infuriate you. His treatment of the media may seem cute now but trust me it will annoy you soon enough when you are wanting some genuine answers on team performance. Whilst half truths are a reality in football, Mick takes it to another level and is more than comfortable in telling outright lies to benefit himself. Just think back to how much you hated him at Collingwood and the reasons why.

Sorry for the rant but I think your post in our board gives us the right of reply.

I'm 90% sure your mob will play make a GF within the next 3 years. I hate the old bugger but he does have a knack for getting teams to at least compete something that I think Ratten was unable to do.

Not my fault your Collingwood buddies keep quoting it ;)

Anyway we'll see. I don't deny Salty Malty has his faults, but we haven't had a lot to be excited about this year besides the obvious few highlights, so ... you know...

If I was a Blues fan this is exactly what I would be worried about. Its basically all on the line in the next 2 years or bust. As you say good clubs like Sydney & the Cats are looking 5-10 years ahead not 1-2 years. Its a gamble and I would be worried about the long term consequences if it didn't pay off.

Financially its a massive investment in what is a short term arrangement as he isn't going to be a 5-10 year coach - unlike the Bombers setup. If the club was completely screwed up maybe it was a good move to tear it down and start again - which Mick will do, he will want it done his way. The best thing he will do is change the culture of the club and hopefully for the long term and if he doesn't win a flag I would expect he would at least leave that behind.

MM is a brilliant coach and has a hard edge that maybe Ratten didn't. He will have some form of success as the list isn't a bottom 10 list. I would expect by year 2 he will have reshaped the club & will be very competitive injury permitting. However, if things don't quite work out & at the end of year 2 & there is no flag to show what does the club do? Hird & Thompson showed you can have the best coaching setup & resources yet still fall short. If it was MM at the Bombers 2 years in like them would they be resigning him for a 4th & 5th year, I wouldn't think so.

If at the end of 2 years do they let him have one last crack at it and hope for the best and worry about a start from scratch rebuild in year 4 if it happens - another new start. Or do they bite the bullet (like most clubs do) and start rebuilding early to avoid a complete bottom out. The problem for MM is there is no time for a bottom out or a rebuild and this puts the club in an awkward position because they need to think not just about the next year but where they want to be long term. So if no flag at the end of year 2 its time to start looking at other coaching options - Paul Roos anyone?

I don't have a problem with you getting Mick. It would have been nice though if he could have refrained from sticking the knife in re Cloke. It has been a pretty flat week for our club.

He's a Carlton man now, it's his job to look after their interests. It would be remiss of him not to do so.

I wouldn't worry about Cloke Jmac, he was never going to leave you guys. As a young footballer, you really can't blame him for trying to get the best deal he can, while he's still got some value.
