What were your thoughts on Mick Malthouse's comments yesterday saying Victorian supporers (in this case, Collingwood in particular) were sick of interstate clubs receiving handouts while they didn't.

I don't understand what it has to do with the match, but good on him for saying it anyway, regardless of whether he is a "puppet on a string for Eddie" as UDC said last night on Talking Richmond.

I think it's ridiculous that the Big 4 and the interstate clubs are so reluctant to give struggling Victorian clubs a boost to survive when Brisbane and Sydney virtually lived off the money generated by other clubs for a decade.

Your thoughts?

Micks a ****.
Sydney and Brisbane are responsible for at least 30% of the 0.5 billion dollar TV rights deal. They have, and continue to subsidise the other clubs, especially victorian ones.

All other clubs, appart from the so called big four vic teams, subsidise the big four by giving them exclusive access to Easter and Anzac day games, and playing each other twice.

Mick's just scared of his team falling out, or dangerously close to out, of the eight, whereas Brisbane are all but guaranteed to be playing in September......yet again. (Suffer figjam)

jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj (was this jst a random pressing of the keys or what ?)

I agree with the first bit. Very short sighted of Collingwood to bag Brisbane. Whatever money Brisbane recieved was repaid 10 fold with the new TV deal. If it were not for interstate clubs this deal would be worth less than half of what it is.

As for the ANZAC thing that is load of nonsense. Collingwood have to play Essendon sometime so ANZAC day may as well be it. Hawthorn v Port on ANZAC day would be mad.

I find it amazing how quickly a leopard can change its' spots. Was Mickey worried about interstate handouts when coaching West Coast? I think he was pushing for more! He is paid by the Collingwood Football Club to say what Eddie wants him to say.

I think Mick is just making an excuse incase they lose. He knows that the Lions will be breathing fire this week and 2 of his stars are in doubt.

If we get so many handouts how come Riewoldt isn't in a Lion's jersey? He's a QLDer.

Who will next on Mick's handout list ? The unemployed, drug addicts, the mentally ill, pensioners, public housing recipients, illegal immigrants, gamblers.

Wonder what tangles Micks strings more, Eddie, or the fact he knows that they took Buckley, Molloy and OBree of brisbanes hands?

As a logical argument it's a farce, hypocritical & pure drivel & only people with very very low IQ's would not see through it.

As for cheap motivation - well it's great - nothing like inciting the mob.

CarterS, that argument really annoys me. As Malcolm Blight says, who gives a rat's tossbag what state Nick Riewoldt is from. He's from Queensland...big deal...why should Brisbane get first crack at him? I don't see any Victorian, South Australia or WA sides getting a go at kids from their states because they live there.

I can't believe the AFL is even considering making the zone larger for the Lions, it's just another compromise on the draft and the equality of the competition. Imagine the uproar if one of the Victorian clubs demanded a free pick for anyone living within 100km of Melbourne

It's like saying how come Luke Power isn't in a Collingwood jumper, he's a Victorian

Brisbane already receive a $400,000 "allowance" so they can recruit extra players from Victoria, and they want first go at Queenslanders too. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

The Brisbane Lions gets father and son priority for Fitzroy up until 1996 and the Bears up until 1996, as well as being able to get priority over talent in the Brisbane area and you still want more!

Last time I looked Southport was not a Brisbane suburb!!!

I said he's a QLDer not from Brisbane.

Take 3 Collingwood players for example. Buckley, O'Bree and Molloy are all former Brisbane players who wanted to go home to Melbourne. Rory Hilton is the same.

The Lions need the QLDers because half the Vics wanna go home.

Personally I'd rather have Jon Brown than Riewoldt on my side anyway.

What do you expect the two teams merged you dill.

LOL
THAT WILL BE NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HANDOUTS MEANING MONEY YOU FOOL!

NOT PLAYERS!!![

Handouts meaning an extension of the draft zone so they can get Riewoldt.

Get your head straight.

And GOALden Hawk, most of the players in the AFL would be Victorians only about 5% would be QLDers, so there goes your argument.

What an airhead statement.

How many games has young Nick Riewoldt played again??? Oh yeah that's right NONE.

Anyways I'm glad you don't want him because he's happy just where he is thank you very much.

Everyone is right, you get enough bloody concessions as it is. If Riewoldt wanted to play for the Lions then he would've moved to the CBD to give Brisbane priority, but he decided to let nature take its course.

WHO REALLY CARES

talk about petty, what does it matter? everyone knows the AFL gives handouts to the interstate clubs..and you shoot micky down cos he has the balls to publicly say what most of us think??

****E we better keep that talk among the drunks in the pubs then...

get over it morons.
