I think Buckly will be fine. BUt, at the same time i don't think any of us know exactly what has been going on behind the scenes to comment one way or another, I think Mick probably made the right choice, move on and let BUcks set thinks up his way. He's had his 2 years in training now, time to him to take charge and see what he can do.

Found it interesting that the role offered to Eade was not what was offered to Mick... I'm starting to think we squeezed him out

Also did anyone see Neil Balme extend his hand only for Mick to ignore him and walk off... fair to say there is still bad blood there hehe :|

Roos is pretty critical of MM's coaching from what he's saying On the Couch tonight.

Says we changed the way we played by not having the extra defender back that we have all year. Too much one on one that opened us up. Also, not making any moves, Taz on Hawkins, Reid off, Dids on the ball etc.

Very interesting.

Arn't Butters and Malthouse good mates?

Are we going to have Butters sabotaging us now?

I'd love to know why Neil Craig didn't end up at the Pies it would have given us some sports science coverage as well.

You can rest easy Butter would never in a million years do that. It'd be unprofessional on a level that hasn't been seen since Waldron was in charge of contracts at the Storm.

As for Craig I'd guess he was probably sounded out for the job, but the fact that Melbourne made the decision to go with him almost 2 weeks ago made it very difficult to be realistic about getting him.

mick malthouse has lived by this saying:
"when someone says they want to quit/retire you should never talk him out of it because they are mentally already gone from your club just by saying it" i can vividly remember he used this line when Paul Medhurst announced his somewhat of a surprise retirement in 2010.

that is why i am surprised he himself quit but stayed till the end of the year....maybe he tried to leave early, what do we know?

i believe it was definitely a distraction and i believe that for the last 6 weeks he did, whether knowingly or not, coach different. not better or worse, just different. if anything specifically he was less reactive when other sides were getting on top in some areas.

who knows what would have happened if he didn't coach the year out? i guess it doesn't matter now. but part of me thinks that maybe it would've been better if he left as soon as he made his mind up regardless of the picnic the media would have had.

i know leaving a club while it's sitting top of the table is outrageous but in our groundbreaking sucession planning it has merit to at least have given it a thought.

i still have the utmost respect for Mick and what he has done for my/our football team and i respect his decision.

OUTRAGEOUS (deserves 7pt but will respect your board)
