I think I'll trade Rich down this week or I could trade Otten down first. I think I'll go Rich -> Hartlett this week. In 2 weeks time Hopefully Otten -> Cockie/DeBoer.

Anyone know when Broughton is expected back?

Was a test last week and didn't come up so hopefully he is right for this week to either play for Subiaco or the Dockers.

Here's an interesting one:

I have Rich, Haselby and Tuck all starting (i know, not very good)

I have Beams and Robinson on the bench.

Looking at getting Hartlett this week, which would you guys downgrade from those options. I'm thinking Haselby has the least upside, didn't score well in a win for Freo last week.

Thoughts?

Haselby missed a good chunk of the game with a corky and still got over 60, had he played the whole game he would have gotten about 80-90 IMO.

i'm in exactly the same situation.. would also like to hear thoughts on this one. at the moment i'm leaning towards letting HH slide... go Walker -> Warren this week and wait for someone like deBoer for Robinson. Petrenko -> Greenwood can happen next week too

i also thought about either Tuck or Haselby -> HH as Robinson -> HH seems a waste but it seems like too many rookies in my mids (HH, Rich, Beams, Robinson. 2 of them on the field)

This is what I like about the increased price of rookies. Makes people think twice.

I'm seriously contemplating copping a zero in the rucks this week (unless Spencer gets a miraculous call up) so I can do a double downgrade of Rich/Robinson -> Hartlett and Walker -> Warren, before going Hille -> McIntosh, Dempsey -> Hodge next week, before bringing in a forward premium the week after.

Hartlett could prove to be one of the best cows for the year, and I'm not keen on missing out on bringing him in.

ive got robinson to downgrade this week and i think il miss the hartlett boat and get barham/collins. the extra 50 k will be vital for future upgrades. i see hartlett peaking at 300k which would be a gain of 160k on his original price. and i see collins/ barham peaking at 200k which would be an increase of 115k on their original price and the 50k you save on the trade you make 165k so there aint much in it. ive got beams and zaharakis also so i should get plenty of money out of them to keep me happy. if i do robinson>hartlett il only make 15k and i dont have a lot in the kitty.

meh this whole business to me reeks of "I must hop on every good rookie" syndrome. The reality is that in the next 3-4 weeks most sides will only be doing 3 upgrades therefore should only require 3 downgrades. So all you need are three good cash cows (Walker, M. Brown, Beams, Hill, Suban, Petrenko, etc.) and three good upgrade targets (Rich, Ziebell, Skip, etc.) It's not necessary that you keep sideways swapping/minor downgrading rookies.

yea some good points there. everyone was jumping on beams and zaharakis 2 weeks ago and collins and barham seem to be popular this week as well as hartlett. i think its a waste of a trade if your going robinson to hartlett as your only making 15k or anthony to collins/barham. most would have hill,suban,rich,beams,walker,brown,ziebell etc and will make plenty of money there. so i dont see why everyone is sideways trading all these rookies

how much longer do you guys rekon beams has till hes peaked?
hopefully beams can get to 250k and then i can trade zaharakis when hes peaked and make 150k off that trade which would have beams at 400k straight to a fallen premium. how much does everyone else think beamer will peak at?

I'd like to think that Beams, Ziebell and Rich could all reach $250k minimum. That would help with some serious upgrading!

After thinking about it I might hold off for a while on trading the rookie mids, as pointed out they haven't peaked enough. If Hartlett was an 86k option it'd be an easy decision, but it feels too early to pull the trigger. In a month the situation may be far better with possibly more rookie mid choices and more stars on the fall, giving guys like Rich and Beams a better chance of fully peaking. Could be another 50k in Beams alone.

Agree 100%

IMO there will be better cash cows that Hartlett. Hartlett will be good if you want him to be there until round 22. The reason I don't think he is a good downgrade target is that none of the main mid rookies have peaked, so you're losing out on their money. Rich and Beams still have a way to go until they peak. If Hartlett was $86k, I'd downgrade Robinson to him, but downgrading Robinson to Hartlett would only get me $14k and he'd be my 9th midfielder. Waste IMO.

True, a 9th midfielder would be a massive waste. Extra player in the cap.

Trading Rich -> Hartlett this week. Then Petrenko -> Broughton next week.

It's either that or trade Petrenko -> Broughton this week and Walker -> Ballantyne(?) next week.
This means I miss out on Hartlett.

Its either 1 of those options but for next week trades it depends on this weeks trades.

So hard to call!

Well i brang in Hartlett last week for Haselby and thank god i did i now have to trade players such as Hille, Dalziell due to injury and will be considering Collins or Barham to come in for the peaked Rich.

Nice pickup! If I did that I'd have good backup for the year though :D

The main reason I'm not getting Hartlett is because I have 4 guns/4 rookies structure. All guns are untradeable, and rookies are yet to peak. Obviously depends on your team structure.

Rich hasnt peaked yet mate, but thats just my opinion.

Im thinking alot about hasleby > hartlett personally, but i really dont need the cash cows, nor do i need the cash to be freed up for pressing issues, nor do i want to be starting 3 rookies in the mids. So im most likely going to give hartlett a miss.

I'm agonising over Robinson to Hartlett. If i do that i could end up with 4 rookies in the mid worth $250+ over coming weeks, then 4 trades to get those 2 extra premium mids, well....5 trades all up.

There's actually a chance Mitch Robinson could play this week, we need someone to come in for CJ, although Hadley's more likely. With an uncomfortable B/E after his Sydney game though, he'd need a few good weeks on the trot to get over $200k.

I'll probably follow the "if in doubt, don't trade" line - even if that doesn't ALWAYS work.

this round:
skippy -> hartlett
walker -> warren

next week
petrenko -> greenwood

and trade up to bring in either Bartel, P.Burgoyne or Bowden.
