Mid Gippy

If Mid Gippy merged , clubs would have folded quicker as soon as 2019. Thorpdale and Hill End both said they wouldn't survive if a merger occurred.
Spot on.
Mid Gippy may well fold in the future, who knows when, but one thing they will do is survive longer than most. If that means 4 team comp so be it.
Merger = two more country leagues gone forever.

Exactly, more money needs to be sourced into the 2 leagues, if that can't sorted than we should see 2 divisions introduced to West Gippsland League with an Alberton Conference and a West Conference.

As for Mid Gippsland you could see them merge with North Gippy and have 2 conferences with a ''East'' and ''West'' conference. Trafalgar / Thorpdale and even Hill End could potentially join Ellinbank League....

All ideas which are better than AFL Gippsland's.

Another contributing factor to all this is getting people to fill off field positions. Try asking someone nowadays to clean the toilets, reply would be 'why , are your cleaners on holidays '. Can you man the scoreboard, reply, 'Do I get height allowance and appropriate insurance'. The more a club is struggling the worse /harder it becomes.
There has been a lot of great people across many leagues who have kept clubs going thru hard times purely for the love of it. Sadly these stalwarts aren't being replaced.

What about send the alberton league clubs plus warragul drouin leongatha and wonthaggi too the WGFL and they can create 2 divisions...... and then merge the MGFL and NGFL plus moe morwell Traralgon sale maffra and bairndale and create a 3 division competition and dont call me a w***er,just say yes or no.

Leongatha would never lose if that happened....

A two-division WGFL (10-8 or 9-9) comprising the current West Gippsland and Alberton clubs is supposedly the new end game for the situation.

In time, I can see the MGFL and NGFL coming together as one competition (Gippsland League Division 2?) with two competitions/conferences - either geographic (with MG and NG divisions) with a Regional Grand Final between the two premiers - or else performance based (Div 1/2). It would be a quasi-second division to the current Gippsland League, which would stay in the format that it currently is but re-named as Gippsland League Division 1.

Any thoughts on what becomes of the EDFL in the future?

Thorpy are in a bit of trouble but they're a good club and will pull through. They're financially sound. The main problem Mid Gippy clubs have had the last few months is players not wanting to commit due to AFLG's meddling and not knowing the future of the clubs/league. If Mid Gippy had just been left alone all would be fine. Many people in the league are pushing for dis-affiliation from the AFL if they keep trying to force any unnecessary/unwanted change. AFLG have no idea what they're doing. They couldn't run a bath let alone half a dozen sporting leagues.

See the mid gippy will let at least 4 clubs in next year!!! After all said and done shouldof been this year.. say good bye to thorpy in the next couple of days

Where do you get this information? AFLG want them to but mid Gippy are likely to take 1 or 2.

You would expect that if any new clubs were foisted on the league by the AFL slash AFLG would have at least three football teams and a set minimum number of netball teams to ensure that there aren't excessive numbers of byes during the season.

There were three set byes in the Thirds and Fourths last season and if there were any more in the future then it would start to turn kids off playing in this league and instead play for a team in another league playing more matches.

Thorpy were far from disgraced, going by the scores they probably should have won.
Heard Newborough bit pissed off playing for the Skinner Cup, not happy Jan.
