Re: Mid Gippy 2011

I find it interesting so many people are jumping on boolara,

they have 2 decent players in Dyer and Towt and the latter is their only avenue to goal..

Mirboo North and Traf are miles ahead of the competition..

I dont think Mirboo is miles ahead of Boolarra.

I think Traf have got a bit on them, but Boolarra has the midfield to
make things interesting against Traf and get first use of it.

Mirboo have a lot of class, but with a lot of older blokes, Its a raffle
as to whether theyll be fit and firing, if they are then theyll obviously
be hard to get over.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

hahaha. you blokes are a joke, having watched chandler play over a few seasons now, he is one of the fairest footballers in the area. after watching him get belted week in week out and talking to a few people about the incident sounds like you all get a bit excited.
obviously nothing in it as he got left off, these things happen in footy.
3 appearances in 3 weeks. two of them a joke.
shit league.

Get back in your box GIMP!

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

How can people say that the league has evened out. Traf hasn't lost, mibro have dropped 2, the rest are miles behind. The problem with these teams on the up, is when things turned bad, they turn on each other and bicker with one another. If you need a few examples; damske @ yarragon, disisto and Todd @ newborough, phillips @ YYN. The other teams like yinnar, hillend & thorpdale try hard and are improving but really are miles off mirbo and traf. Boolara might be the only team that can shake things up, but it's yet to be seen. Bring on September to see what mid gippy brings us!

Maybe the league hasnt evened out in a pure results sense but Yinnar, Thorpy and Yarragon have all run Traf close this year. There isnt the the 30 goal floggings that used to litter the results in years gone by.

Those two are a fair bit better than just decent. The other Dyer goes ok also.

We'll just have to wait and see when this chandler gets thrown head first into the fence after the whisle then heads off to hospital to get stiched up to see if you still say 'these things happen in footy'.

guys im moving to the area over the summer and would like know about the footy clubs and the strandard of footy what is the differance between mid gippy and nth gippy comps? I hope to be moving to the traralgon - morewell area, just after a kick and meet new friends and get involed in the club as moving down from the big smoke.

Going by the last few posts - Newborough is the club to join.

Probably need to know where you have played, as to be able to get a guide on the standard you are used to.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

Mirboo North clearly looking like the side to beat after yesterdays results.

Not sure when Birchy came back to play for them, but that kid is a gun
and they are going to take some beating for sure.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

2nd week back for Birchy
Carried an injury for the first part of the season.

Forward line looking very dangerous.
All these guys rotating through at some stage.
Scarey for the opposition

Timmy Trail (FF) Best FF in MGFL
Birchy (CHF) Best CHF in MGFL
Webby (Resting Ruck) Best Ruck in MGFL - Daylight 2nd
Palms
Tac Taylor
Braydon Wilson
Choco Peters
Bencey

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

That side wont lose then.

I thought Mirboo lacked depth a few weeks back, but looking at their
list on gameday, theyve got players back - and quality players.

And the only bloke that could give Don Webb a run for his money -
is rolling around in the Mirboo reserves, lol.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

you could add Ben Stoops, Josh Taylor and possibly Nick Lye too that forward line also. Should be a good game against Traf this week, the big ground at Moe should suit both sides.

injured

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

What would make you say that,

I think Mirboo have Traf covered in most areas.
They have the best ruckman, CHF, FF, a tough midfield with a mix
of runners who can deliver the ball forward.

Thats enough for mine and I think they'll win well.

Im from neither side, its just my opinion.

i just find that to be an interesting opinion,

from what ive read, all that has really changed from the mirboo team that was beaten by yinnar in round 1 and traf in round 3 is the inclusion of the chf.... will he really make that much of a difference

Any truth the rumour that boolara has just signed jason macfarlane?

If so, wheres the loyalty? plays 7 games at Morwell this year realizes they have no hope of playing finals so jumps ship..

I wonder what happens if Boolara cant quite snag a flag this year, he will jump ship again.. leaving boolara with a pretty big hole in their pocket

And Mirboo North Recruiting Berchy at the half way point of the year..

feel sorry for the guys getting dropped for these blokes that decide mid season that a team is worth playing for..

Who is Jason Macfarlane? And is he even much chop?
I just checked clearances and nothings been lodged.

Mirboo has been Birchys main club, played his juniors there and has
played in a flag, so its hardly a suprise recruit.
Someone mentioned previously that he hadnt played earlier due to injury.

Macfarlane has played and coached at morwell the last few years i think

he is getting on now, plays in the middle

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

this week will sort out the top 5 for the rest of the year, newborough are no good, not consistent enough and no where near discipline enough, the fight is on between hill end and yallourn north with dale murphy the match winner that hill end dont have, Ayton compared to murphy as power forward? cannot be compared in my book, mirboo north away from home will crumble, traf and boolarra are the teams to beat but a fair bit of money at both clubs interesting to see how "team" oriented they are come finals

it would seem mirboo north and traf are the only teams to be consistently making finals each year, amazing what promoting the juniors does for a country footy club..

boolara pick up 15 new players and are suddenly in contention for finals after years at the bottom, pretty obvious which teams are paying money,

but look where it got yarragon and morwell east, a few years near the top now sitting back where they belong at the bottom of the ladder with empty bank accounts

Such an ill informed post about Boolarra and what they have done the last 3-4 years.

They haven't played finals football in years, so what have they done..

And to still be recruiting blokes this far into the season cause they still can't match it with the top teams says alot about the club,

I really think u have no idea on how footy clubs run.

Boolarra been slowly progressing well the last 3 years under Tony G since he was appointed Senior Coach down there. Tony G recruited very very well every year and managed to hold onto every player he has bought in. This year the Demons managed to snare some young Morwell kids to add to the mix and a Boolarra kid in Matty Dyer (Played Gippy Power) who grew up and played all his junior footy at Boolarra who has been living away the last few years. Gun Gun Footballer !!!! Added to this some of their young home grown talent are fit and firing unlike last season in Cleaver and Buglesi.

We talking about a town that has about 400 people in it trying to compete with towns like Traf with 2500+

U snipe and put down Boolarras efforts on and off the field. When in reality u have NFI on what has transpired over the last 3 seasons and for that matter seasons before that.

P.S If Boolarra were still trying to recruit players in the last 2 weeks leading up to the deadline. Thats called SMART football management not silly stupid spending like ur implying.
