Have heard that Shellcot from YYN will have to miss most of the season because of work commitments after becoming a father recently. Big loss for the bombs, be hard to find a tougher player in the league then big Darce.

Nah I doubt it, no one likes to see Thorpy struggle like they are.

Yinnar had a good win by the looks of things.

Mirboo bounced back like I thought they would.

Hill end must be pretty handy to get within 6 goals of the clear flag favs.

Good to see Tim Phillips kicking bags again for YYN.

Mirboo North impressive on Saturday. Hill End very good last week, cant take anything away from them but ultimately it was Mirboo 26 scoring shots to Hill End 15.

Morwell East Vs Mirboo North

Morwell East dominated the first half of the first quarter but didnt get any reward on the scoreboard. Smashed Mirboo at the clearneces and Inside 50s. From there Mirboo broke even at stoppages, took control in the Ruck. Thing that was really puzzling to me was Morwell East played a deep deep press and continually got burnt once it was broken with easy goals. A forward press is fine (Even though i reckon its a dumb play in country footy) but to play it so deep that u leave 2-3 Mirboo guys alone in their forward 50 is suicide.

Jake Nash was BOG by the length of the Flemington Straight
Liam Nash is a GEM and will be playing Power very very soon if anybody at Power has half a brain.
Chris Joustra is a young developing Ruckman with mungrel in him. Could be a real wild card for Mirboo this year with his leap and attack on the footy.
Drew Gardiner and Bull Kiel again outstanding in the KP posts down back. Wont be many forwards that beat these guys this year.
 
Just watched traf vs Yarra, traf played awesome had winners all over the ground, there young guys like faltum, d.brock handled them self well, in the forward line j.holdsworth, b.slater and d.mann worked well together, on ballers killed it, m.farrell is better than m.dyer! Back line dominated with m.swenson a clear best on ground, and d.long not far behind, I would not read much into newbrough as flag fav, I think traf will win once again

Boolarra offically in premiership hangover mode?? Could be 0-3 if Tiges win this weekend.

Could be done, I think losses to traf and Mirboo r no biggies for any team. Bigger worries for the top teams would be losses to the teams that finished outside the 5 last year, Yinnar hillmen etc.

Mirboo losing to hills and only beating east by a few is a little concerning for me, considering there new players etc.

I wouldnt read much into Mirboo losing to Hill End, from all reports,
their kicking cost them and considering it was first round - that should improve.
And the East did beat Yinnar the week before, who just knocked
off Boolarra quite easily.

I wouldnt be worried about Mirboo, they will be top 4.
Boolarra are definately a concern now, Yinnar wasnt a game they
needed to drop and with Mirboo, Newborough and Hillend coming up,
they very well could drop all 3 games.

Or, if your best players really want to play - they do, its unlikely that happens though.

10 goals Mirboo beat Morwell East by. WTF ?:confused:

25 scoring shots Mirboo North to 15 scoring shots Hill End in Round 1. Cant take anything away from Hill End they were really really good i hear. But Mirboo have only themselves to blame for that game.

I think Mirboo Vs Boolarra will be a close game.
Boolarra will smash their midfield, Mirboo are a bit soft in that area.

I also think Newborough will give Morwell East a hiding.

Other than that I agree the others.

Would not be surprised if Thorpy get over the top of Yarragon up there at Thorpdale. Talking to a Traf player this week who said that ass coach Phil Solohub signed up with Gladstone Football Club (QLD) about 4 weeks ago for a job. And the few key players they do have are out with long term injuries. With their lack of depth they have had to play around 6 thirds in the seniors each week. Definitely the battle of the wooden spoon this game!!
