So what are everyone's thoughts so far?
A few surprises and disappointments i would think?

In order of current ladder position 15-5-13

Mirboo -Definitely surprised me, thought they would be going well but not this well
Traf - About where I thought they would be, definitely GF material
Newb - Thought they might have dropped off a bit more than they have but good to see still winning
Boolarra - Didn't think they would be in the 5. Good to see they have some of their 2011 winning back
Hill End - Definitely surprising everyone, if they can win 2 or 3 of their next 5 they will be in finals

Yinnar - Thought they would be on top, pretty disappointing but the season is young.
M. East - About where i predicted, being competitive is good to see but not winning unfortunately
Thorpy - Thought they were contenders but fast becoming pretenders. Won't win enough tough games.
Yarragon - Bleeding games into young players good to see but long year ahead.
Yall Nth - No light at the end of the tunnel this year, hopefully they look ahead well to next year.

What are your thoughts?
 
Mirboo nth- very strong, particularly at home. In the box seat
Trafalgar-haven't had a look at them yet but seem to be getting the job done. Will be looking to peak at the business end
Newb- will be thereabouts again. Seem to have a lot of depth in the 2nds and 3rds
Boolarra- look like an improver, need a big 2nd half of year to cement return to finals.
Hill End- positive so far, need a settled lineup and to knock off a couple of quality sides to prove themselves

Yinnar- quality side, a few injuries have hurt but most would expect them to be top 4 by end of season
M. East- honest side who are lacking depth. Not a finals side but may cause an upset or two
Thorpdale- much hype but still lacking polish and depth. Will be looking to pinch some wins and not slip into old habits
Yarragon- another honest side with some quality youngsters in the mix. Need to hang onto their juniors and build for the future
YYN- exodus of players has hurt the club. Still some quality there but may be a long season unfortunately. Hopefully can pinch a win or 2

Still a long way to go but has been very interesting so far. Competition is looking healthy and there is probably 3 or 4 sides in the mix for the flag
 
Breaking news. The big return of Bay6er in the Thorpy magoos this weekend after a league/club imposed suspension for being a social media pest..

Seeing as how it's the traf coach who chose the team, it shows you how highly they must rate Holdsworth then if they let him get picked over a thirds bloke!
 
Good to see the mid gippy boys have a big win yesterday, so who do we play next year? Albertonfl again?

8-1 who can stop us??......wont be Boolarra I'll give you the hot tip:) Lightning dosent stike twice in the same place. Even if the umpires are all mates with Boolarra players:eek:
 
Called up to hillend on the way home from work Saturday. A surprising first quarter thought I might haven been witnessing the years first up set. After Traf kicked the first goal in the first 2 mins that was the last time they seen it in there forward 50 for majority of the quarter if hillend had of kicked straight it might of been a different game. Notably the Traf coach was on the side lines for the game one could only think he was injured. Second quarter really seen the Traf of last year come out when jace butler found him self on the half back line with fellow team mate Cohen lee the game was blown out by both players footy smarts and superior skills with damaging run and switches Traf blew the game open and it was all down hill from there. Big game this week against newb. Did anyone watch newb against boolara on the weekend?? How did they look? Mirbo would be clear favourites I can't see traf matching them up there!
 
Baysixer if u say your from Traf can u tell us this was that full strength on the weekend - the coach or is there still men to come back??
 
I seen Ken Towt kicked 8 of Boolara's 9 on the weekend, He was a full back in EDFL playing for Longwarry maybe they had him at the wrong end. Was a very good player the few times I have seen him play.

Yeah Piezy. He was terrific for Boolarra. Kicked 8 out of 9 as well. We didnt have a match up for him. Very sneaky player. Played on him when he was at Longwarry and he was also a very good defender. Boolarra got him in 2010 (I think) and he has play mostly up forward for them since joining them.

Trying a number of players in different positions before our big march into the finals:) wouldn't read to much into the result.......the doggies beat us in the regular season last year and look what happened!:thumbsu:

When we slotted the first goal 2 minutes in I thought we would carry that on and set up the lead, Newborough simply got the umps on their side by staging for feee kicks. Keno being the worst offender, he dived like he was auditioing for Celebrity Splash!:eek:

Not a bad player but wouldn't pick him as the sort of guy to kick 8.

What is the standard of footy like in Mid Gippsland plugger? How would the Newborough side that made the GF go against the Nilma side that won the flag when you were there?
