AFL Gippsland review out tonight. Yarragon to join Ellinbank, the rest of Mid Gippy to merge with Alberton. No 3rds and 4ths anymore, only U17s.

Not sure about this. Destroys the most stable league in Gippsland and makes it a fair trek for a few clubs, plus the fixture will be uneven. But I suppose some change was inevitable when there are clubs in the league who consistently haven't been able to field 3rds/4ths for a decade.

I see reading the report that mid gippy are not affiliated with afl gippsland so i assume unless more than 50% of the clubs vote to adopt this restructure they can just say no and its status quo

Boolarra will be fine. They're still clawing back after appointing the wrong coach a couple of years back that left the list in tatters. As for the bloke coaching them now he coached them to a flag not so long ago and was a big part of Mirboo North sorting themselves out in the early 2000s and look where they've been the last 10 or so years.

Thorpy and Hill End will survive as long as the status quo remains and Mid Gippy is untouched. AFL Gippsland has f@#ked just about everything they've touched so hopefully Mid Gippy digs their heels in. If for no other reason than to help the smaller clubs survive. It's an easy fix for Alberton. Get Yarram and Inverloch back in. There needs to be a league down there along the South Gippy highway just like there needs to be a minor league in the Latrobe Valley

Listened to afl gippsland rep on radio this morning. What a crock of shit. Said in seniors to give all teams equal premiership chance. Yeah so the weaker mid gippy teams now have to compete with 6 other teams of supposed better quality & years of a very superior salary cap. Then concede less kids playing footy so less teams needed to fill better way to go. On this theory as less & less play need less teams eventually footy will just die out. Spend money finding why not playing & not on easy fix bullshit recommendations
