so round 10 minutes post mid season draft hows my negative predictions tracking?

- Mackinlay already pigeonholed as mcentee 2.0

Davies hinted that Watkins was going to be overlooked by saying yesterday "that if he misses out in the mid-Season draft he was a good chance for the National Draft or Rookie Draft". Watkins, according the Advertiser, wanted 18 months too. As a rookie draft selection he would only have a 12 month contract. Taking Liddy and McKinlay gives a chance to really assess these guys. We already know Watkins well. I hope Watkins gets on our AFL list eventually. He's clearly our best player in the SANFL.

I think Port has in mind to draft Watkins as a rookie.

Not really. Ramm might develop into a longterm key defender option, so ok with that. He also replaces Moss and Walsh for the SANFL team this year, and we can compare his development side by side alongside Kyle Marshall who is a couple of years older.
The other two strengthen our SANFL side and are probably no worse than Mead or McEntee for their respective positions.
You'd think at the end of this year, there would be such a clearing of our list (Atkins, Boak, Finlayson, Charleson, Anastasopoulos, Soldo, Williams, McEntee etc) that there will still be room for Watkins if we can't fill the spots through the main draft.

They needed extra SANFL players... hence no sense picking Watkins.
Watkins has been under Norfs nose & now ours I think it probably tells you he is zero chance of cracking an AFL midfield. Butters isn't staying or going based on what a mate is doing period.
They may have made him a promise to do it then so that they can add more depth this year to help in the Magpies.
Teakle was very much needs based and at the time there werent many options in MSD to get a ruck so by virtue it had to be him. His performances since would suggest that maybe we didnt fully scout him either.
Narkle, there was enough exposed AFL form to make a call, he barely spent that much time in VFL after being delisted.

People have to calm the farm. All this hysteria because Port didn’t draft Watkins = Butters leaving.
Reality is Butters has one year left on his contract and Port are not going to entertain trading their best player for peanuts especially in this years draft.

Liddy’s highlights look great. Love the low centre of gravity.
