For those interested in casting their minds back to the 90s (of course you do) and with the mid-season draft approaching, the Tigers have had some previous success (and a few clangers) when it comes to the pre-season draft in its previous incarnation.
The Tigers actually picked up Scotty Turner in the 1990 mid-season draft with our second pick (pick 18). Our first pick Andrew Payze (West Torrens) did not materialise.
The undoubted fins of that draft was Dale Lewis (from North Ballarat to Sydney with picks 2), but Scotty was a ripper for us yellow and black.
199i was not quite so successful, landing us Athas Hyrsoulakis (Prahran/Collingwood), who playted a couple of reserves game, and Shane Fell (Glenorchy/Sydney), who never arrived.
1992 deleiverd us Ian Herman, from Carlton, who was quite serviceable, Andrew Tarpey (Collingwood/Sandringham), who never came, and Tim Livingstone (Box Hill), also serviceable and noted for stitching up Crows skipper Chris McDermott in an excellent tagging effort v the Crows one night.
1993 we went with James Thiessen (former Richmond listed player, who ended up having a couple of decent seasons at the Crows) at pick 2, Brad Fox (Essendon) and Brad Read (East Fremantle, but never ventured east).
A look back at history.
