He played predominantly as a centre half-back before switching into the ruck the last two seasons, but has returned to his defensive roots in 2019 while still rucking where required.

Kelly's intercept marking and blazing speed for his size – he runs sub-three seconds for 20m – are his strengths and he's featured in the best players in three of his four matches this year.

Ooooh, interest definitely piqued.

I suspect the Sydney Swines will be all over him

Spoke to a mate today who is involved down at Werribee said Jake Riccardi has been really impressive this year. Turns 20 has taken his game to another level.

194cm and 92kg, good athlete, strong runner. Previously played at Calder Cannons.

I have a lot of contacts at Werribee who have said the same:

JAKE RICCARDI (VICTORIA)

Riccardi has been a consistent member of the Werribee VFL line-up in 2019, excelling right across the ground. The 194cm tall turns 20 in November and might have an advantage on other young talls that nominated for the mid-season draft, given his experience at VFL level against AFL listed players. Riccardi was part of the Calder Cannons program over the last two seasons, showing off his aerial ability at centre half back in 2018, averaging 6.2 marks. Up forward, Riccardi has booted eight goals in four VFL games this year, including three against Geelong last month. His mobility and athleticism is what will make him appealing to clubs.

Good article. I wouldn’t be against any of those picks.

Dunkley and Atley both deserved to be taken last year imo.

Atley @191cm could end up being an elite clearance player. Would take a bit to get his body up to AFL standards though. He is built the same way as Shaun but a bit leaner than his brother at the same age.

If you're unfamiliar with the pre-draft process, each club was able to nominate three players for medical testing prior to the draft. There's obviously some overlap with the players each club nominated, which leads to this list of 22.

Ajang, Ajang (East Perth)
Anderson, Frank (Northern Blues)
Andrews, Daly (Western Jets)
Connellan, Ray (Essendon VFL)
Deluca, Josh (Subiaco)

Eastland, Oliver (Claremont)
Gregson, Cory (Glenelg)
Grey, Brady (West Coast WAFL)
Hibberd, Mitch (Williamstown)
Hirst, Cody (Eastern Ranges)
Hosie, Lachlan (Glenelg)
Lowson, Sam (Coburg)
Mayo, Jack (Subiaco)
Mountford, Declan (Claremont)
Noble, John (West Adelaide)
Nunn, Matt (Norwood)
Pickett, Marlion (South Fremantle)
Pina, Jarvis (Peel Thunder)
Riordan, Mitch (Dandenong)

No point in us really going after mature age talent. Get a jump on the draft and get some development into one of the following:

Dunkley, Kyle (Gippsland)
Hirst, Cody (Eastern Ranges)
Riordan, Mitch (Dandenong)
Tipungwuti, Adam (NT Thunder)
Pina, Jarvis (Peel Thunder)
Munn,Hugo (Sturt)
Jacob Atley (Essendon)
Jake Riccardi (Werribee)
Dillon O'Reilly (East Fremantle)

Mother’s Day at Optus Stadium could be career-defining for several players.
Not the Fremantle versus Richmond showdown, but the curtain-raiser — the State game between WA and SA.
Later this month the AFL will hold a mid-season draft for the first time since 1993. Those with long memories will recall that was the year Dale Kickett made headlines when he was snapped up by Essendon after dominating with Claremont.

You can make a case for several former AFL-listed players to be given a second chance, whether it’s Swan Districts utility player Corey Gault, former Collingwood defender Jackson Ramsay, who has made an impressive start to the season with East Perth, or Claremont’s Declan Mountford, a midfielder de-listed by North Melbourne at the end of last season.

Then there’s two tried-and-tested ball winners, Claremont’s Jye Bolton, who averages more than 33 disposals a game this year, and South Fremantle’s Hayden Schloithe, a constant at South Fremantle over several years.
Most clubs know what they’ll get from that group. But what about Perth’s Michael Bennell, widely known as “Magic”.
From the moment he made his debut last year, a match that was televised on Channel 7, the Albany product has been spoken about as a potential AFL recruit.
Whether it’s jumping on rivals’ heads or kicking goals for fun, the 25-year-old is one of the more intriguing nominations in the draft.
He has played every game in 2019 and while he averages only six possessions a match, he has booted 14 goals in a team which is unbeaten.

Jack Mayo reminds me a bit of Jack Gunston for the Hawks. His parents were both good sportspeople and are quality people in general.

Josh Deluca, class act. Just played in the WA game against SA and won BOG.
