I have a feeling that, sadly, we could hear of a giant retirement in the coming days. If this is the case who do you favour for a replacement. Mids seem to be our most pressing need but a backup key defender or a like for like ruck replacement might also come into play.
I would go for
1) Marlon Pickett
2) Dillon O'Reilly (train him as a key back)
3) Mitch Grigg

Pickett is an interesting one.

Generally speaking I see this as another way to try and improve your list for most clubs - not many are going to need to draft specialist depth players by round 10.

I remember watching South Fremantle vs Subiaco a few years ago when there was hype around Ryan, Schloithe and a few others. One of those others was Tim Kelly who impressed me far more, along with Matthew Parker and Marlion Pickett. Those three were the three AFL prospects to my eye but Pickett’s age and history was always going to count against him.

If not Pickett I’d rather draft whoever we think will be the best player in three years time for our club. Early on this draft could get you the next Tim Kelly - later on it’s probably just an extra rookie selection but no point getting a depth player just to win an extra game or two this year.

Is that an "I can feel it in my waters" type feeling, or a feeling because you have some kind of inside information feeling?

Regarding the draft issue itself, we have a small mountain of likely types who we need to debut. It seems a little pointless if we are just scratching around because we can.

Pickett's a tough one for me. On the one hand I want him to have the opportunity of playing AFL, and particularly for Freo. On the other hand Souths have lost a lot of decent players over the past couple of years due to drafting & retirements and will be weakened further should he leave.

What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't have feelings.

Mitch Grigg in a roundabout way has pretty much stated he doesn't have a desire to play AFL.

The way we are going we will probably take Tom Lewis......... after he just tore his ACL.

None of the above.

We need a quality small forward and apparently an inside mid that’s up to winning p,entry of ball at AFL level.

I honestly think the rest of the season will be a write off for most of these. Draft for next year and beyond.

Best available under 25 talent - but no key forwards or rucks.

Heard through the grape vine that Sandi had reinjured his calf and retirement was looming. When hackdorn report the recent calf injury I then doubted my info

Did Finn Betterman get drafted? Josh Kemp? Ben Jarvis?

Thought Oliver Eastland and Dylan Curley were a touch stiff not to get drafted last year. Where are they at?
