I don’t give a rats arse about Barry’s point - happy for players who wouldn’t otherwise get a look in be given opportunity
Yup. Players wavy to be drafted at the end of the day. Clubs should recruit better to make sure they have the depth to cover

He has a point, can't blame him for his feelings
It ultimately depends on what you view as the point of the state leagues. Are they there as a feeder system for the AFL which is (the east coast view) or are they viable competitions in their own right (the west coast view)? Because I align with the east coast view I’d go further and create a FA window over the next 6 weeks. I really don’t like the MSD model because it’s still luck related and not about equalisation.

I tend to think it should be a viable competition. Not just a team of spare parts for the AFL.
Just my opinion.
What do you mean by FA for the next 6 weeks, just for VFL or also AFL?
Can you imagine losing half a dozen of our players? :eekv1:

It's not an either/or - I think it's a both. WAFL and SANFL need to survive as comps in their own right. VFL has 14 AFL clubs involved and strengthening it - WAFL and SANFL have 2 - they can't survive as simply a feeder comp. You could move to an AFL reserves, but you'd probably need to go with a national under 18s as well as a decent standard at SANFL and WAFL are necessary for developing the kids who come out of those states.
