Recruiters will look at this weekend's young guns game that will factor into the MSD.

Waiting on the full list, but here are some names to watch

MID-SEASON PROSPECTS' CHANCE TO IMPRESS

MID-SEASON rookie draft contenders Floyd Burmeister, Rod Ali, Zac Walker and Adrian Cole are among the 23-player squad selected for Saturday's Young Guns game.

The team was picked based on club recruiters' feedback on which overage players overlooked at last year's draft should be given a chance to impress ahead of the mid-season rookie draft.

The Young Guns will take on a Vic Metro squad on Saturday morning at Werribee's Avalon Airport Oval.

Burmeister has put himself firmly in the No.1 pick mix for the mid-season draft, while Calder Cannons' Gus Papal, Murray Bushrangers' Zac Harding and Western Jets ruckman Ayden McCarroll have also been picked.

Noah Yze, son of former Demons star and current Richmond coach Adem, is also in the team, while Sandringham small Charlie Rozenes is another who has shown his dash at the start of this year to be in mid-season considerations

Collingwood youngster Fin Macrae will be sidelined for at least three months after the club sent him into surgery to fix a troublesome shoulder.

Is that another pick?

Does anyone know what the current draft order is? Heard something on SEN that so far we have pick 5 or 6 (due to teams lower on the ladder not having spots yet), but still sounds like our pick is to high, would of though around 10-11.

No. Players have to be out for the season. 3 months would be July
Could just be one pick

On gettable yesterday they said pick 6 but that can change depending on more injuries

McCartin vs Krueger over their 4 games in the VFL this year:

McCartin averaged 19 disposals, 10 marks, 82 Fantasy Points.

Krueger averaged 14 disposals, 8 marks, 72 Fantasy Points.

VFL Tigs and Dees are playing right now (early 2nd quarter) if you want to scour the basement for a bargain.

McCartin please. I still have PTSD over freddy

He’s not contracted so would think he would want to play some games once recovered
That'll be a race against time, hasn't had much luck our Fin, was a Covid kid and has lost development to injuries as well, now Long has taken the spot he would have been eyeing for himself. Big decision from both parties at the end of the year, LTI or not.

Agree. Though they have been adding strings to his game. The ability to play half forward. Wing. It’s not ideal timing for him. He’ll look for more opportunities at the end of the year. Especially with McGuane coming in who would be likely playing that flank-wing role

If that’s the choice and we need a plug n play defender, I reckon Freddie’s familiarity with the club gets him over the line.

Must draft Krueger imo
Ready to go and as others said knows players and the system

Also if fin doesn't go on MSD it's an opportunity lost as we all know he won't be on our list in 26 unfortunately for him

Kreuger playing forward again. I just don’t think we go back to him.

We could very much pick someone playing in the young guns game for all we know
If there is no clear-cut mature ager who could immediately come in and play (depending on how we rate the McCartin/Tomlinson/Kreuger types) then I think we'd go down the speculative youngster path.

They claim 12-16 weeks - he might be back for two months of the season. He'll be desperate to get back to try to make a claim for an AFL gig somewhere. Why would he agree to go on the inactive list?

If Kreugs form as a defender in the VFL warrants selection in the MSD then I'd be happy to get him, he knows our previous systems so he'd fit in pretty well. The main question on him is his durability, and being in defence is probably protecting him a bit.

I could see Norf getting him if they have a pick, their key defenders are pretty rubbish apart from Comben.

Yeah you can't cut a players season short if he is medically ready to play and he's getting paid to play. In hindsight he should have had surgery when he originally did the injury in the preseason
