I was always confident on noble given he played right away once he was picked up and probably played 95% of the games he was available for

As for who was taken before them.
Noble the only one left from 2019. Pickett retired. Snelling delisted? Oh and Gardner is still on the dogs list? I forgot about him

Ned's draft -- When we selected him
Georgie Payne, Jacob Blight, Hutchinson,Max Hall, Cooper Lord, Logan Evans, Saad from essendon all taken before we took Ned.
All those players in Ned's one bar Payne have been handy players so far. Lord is best 23 for the Scum atm

We wanted Jacob Blight I'm told. But the leak got out and richmond took him.
Not too dissimilar to what happened this year.

Maybe Essendon are just trying to corner the Archie market, because they already have Roberts and Day-Wicks.
Now they just need one more and they can redo Sugar, Sugar.

Allegedly Dermot spoke on SEN and said we'd spoken to Archie twice and that we were taking him

So....yeah. It seems we did?

Not sure Dermie speaks for the club, so not really. He’s in the media, and the kids step-father, entitled to give his interpretation of what he thinks the club messaging means, but it doesn’t give any credence to your claim.

I think Essendon couldn't give a rats arse who we were going to pick. They picked the players that they wanted that were available at their pick. To think a club would jeopardise their list just to spite another club is ridiculous. Essendon needed talks so they picked talls. Simples.
Except that they needed a tall back because most of their's are out injured.
They passed on Oscar Adams and took two tall forwards.

Pretty much. Everyone knew they would take a ruckman and the one they wanted had no interest from anyone else. Might as well take best available with your first pick. They couldn't give a **** where we stood

Maybe they are drafting for the future and not now. Like I suspect you, they do not believe they can win the flag this year. So what they need this year is irrelevant.

KPFs have been know to become very good KPDs. So maybe best tall was more important to them than best tall defender.

Yep, I always laughed when people would go on about Bulldogs taking Bontempelli because they heard we were into him :drunk:

Sure. But if they’re less confident in their talent ID than ours, hearing who we’re targeting, especially in an area of need for them, could hypothetically sway their pick.

Not saying I think this is what happened, possible though.

That they didn’t speak to him until the day before suggests a last minute pivot.

Because our talent identification re talls is exceptional. Oh wait, who was the last tall we drafted to play 200 games that wasn't a father son? I'd suggest they played in the 2010 gf.

Nat Edwards for me

She does a fantastic job.

Her job is to play host and bring others in, which she does very well. But she knows her footy and will throw zingers at the panelists when they deserve it.

So if the club told Archer they’re gonna take him, you don’t think he’d tell Dermot?

Uh…ok. Agree to disagree

Who knows. If I were Essendon I’d be doing as much as possible to do less Essendon-y things.
