Is May any good? Never heard of him before this week.
Listening to Dermie yesterday, seems like a good kid, but Dermie seemed to be at pains to say he has alot of hard work in front of him.

Also emphasised he is a big bull, but maybe didn't get noticed because he played with Calsher Dear and his agility saw him taking constantly taking marks over May. Personally, I think agility in big men is where the game is at.

Hopefully the kid makes it, but some of the reactions from this and Essendon's board seem over the top for someone who, statistically, wont.

One thing Dermie did say was that the Pies put alot of work into him, not just interviews, but also speaking to the 'right' people, and seems to have been happening for a number of weeks. The Bombers spoke to him once, which may have been this week. So, good to know how professional the club is in putting the work into recruitment.

All the Talk on here is how maybe the Don's did us a Dirty by Getting May. Espically with reports saying Bombers only looked at May in last few days before the Draft probably when they heard how keen we where for May

Yes it did suck seeing May go before our 1st Pick but we still took a KPP in Howes who is 19 and looks to have a Good Upside about him. We also linked to Mason and Burmeister so we did have few options for going tall

Just Hope Howes the best of the Lot and also we might get May down the Track thru Trade/Free Agency/SSP

For all we know May could end up a spud. We must have seen something in Howes to select him.

I thought Howes highlights looked better or just as good as May. Not that we got decent highlights anyway

There's a strange phenomenom whereby having someone attracted to you makes you more attractive to others.

If you know one set of recruiters rate someone really highly, you're going to take another look at someone who you had skimmed over. As well as it helping to affirm any positive opinion you already had. Could easily be something that shifts the needle enough between two talents you rated similarly.

Potentially, but you have to ask the question why they only interviewed him just prior to the draft.

We may never know how keen we were on May, but if we were deadset on grabbing May I think there's probably cause for concern why the information made it into the media.

I'm not going to sit here and lose sleep over missing out on May. But given we have a new recruiting team it sounds like there might be some lessons learned here.

Agree - which recruitment department throws away their hard work scouting prospects only to drop everything because ONE Club has a prime target that’s been missed?
It would be an indictment on the group and I dare say a pretty poor reflection on their professionalism - it would be career suicide.
A more likely outcome in such circumstances would be to disparage the target in order to save face.
