If Jackson and Darcy both get injured, then who is first ruck?

McDonald is a great depth player and Erasmus should be given a stretch of games but it’s not mutually exclusive to get a Pickett type player.

Richmond was doing pretty well and then they got Pickett in the MSD.

We do, but I’d have to be convinced that they’ll be significantly better than the guys we have in the NGA.

Ryda Luke, komlyatu etc who we can get for nothing too.

If it was me this is what I’d be looking at.

Pickett, Whan in as the definites. Make it happen.
If we can’t get Pickett done, trade our first either down for extra picks this year and next
Take Whan with our first.

For instance let’s say we end up with pick 10. Look to trade it for pick 15 or 16 and a second.
If Whan is bid on before 15 we use our first. Then use two seconds and a third for a mix of standard draftees and NGA’s.
If he’s not, we take someone else and use 2 seconds for Whan.
Go into next year’s draft with a full boat for Robinson and/or Pickett again.

Try and trade: Darcy if they think it’s worth it.

If we trade Darcy and delist Reidy we need a mature ruck. Bryn Teakle on the cheap? Darcy Cameron if he wants to come home?

Keep Erasmus. We should be playing him every game at least until a young is back, and even then

Retire: Walters and Fyfe,

Delist: Delean, Reidy (Trade on the cheap if that works) Brodie, Aish, Jones.

O’Meara has one year left on a contract. Sturt is in trouble too if he can’t get on the park.
Banfield has one more year too.

But they can be delisted next year.

McDonald should also be given a stretch of games, difficult and saturated on the height front yes, but in the three games he has played (well, 2.75 if you are technical on round one last year), he's done exactly what he has needed and with more opportunity, could do more. It's a case of already having the experience to step in quickly but also needing exposure to get better, particularly on the ruck front.

I do wonder if Draper has put his hand up to coaches for ruck training.

Pick 10 will become pick 15 pretty easily on draft day.

I think Whan will be in the top 15 providing he has a good year. Good skills is what everyone is looking for.
