We’ll be picking middle of the MSD, so maybe 5 or 6? Either we have to take best available. We have gaps everywhere, I don’t get the argument that we need to select for a specific position.
I'm with you. Particularly KPD - we're dreaming if we think we're a chance of finding a KPD who will be good enough to adapt and learn our defensive system within a couple of months to be useful in finals if that's what posters want us to get.

To me, a ruck who can win centre bounce hitouts is the one exception in terms of likelihood of offering immediate depth. They've become so important under the new rules and it's the least sytem based role, so they could impact very early. And there might be some available as it's been a dramatic sudden change in player type that can be effective as a centre square ruck.

The young Devils ruck Mapley fits that criteria.
They reckon 3 or 4 devils are MSD hopes

I think you want taller than Mapley - unless he's got Mack Andrew crazy springs. It's the not really tall blokes without a leap that Steene has taken to the cleaners - Briggs, Pittonet, Wright. He hasn't been able to get over the top of the really tall rucks. Blokes like Briggs and Pittonet will be phased out of centre bounce - unless teams can work out how to nullify the advantage at ground level. I think Steene will be a 2nd ruck in the long run. The hope of Condon coming next year has become more significant.

Hopefully this time we keep whoever we are drafting a secret. Essendons draft strategy seems to be draft the Pies choice before we do.
From what I have seen of May …he’s not that good

West is a better player anyway for me

I reckon the media have nil idea of our drafting preferences. No guarantee we wanted May

He nominated a 2 year contract. Someone must have wanted him. And if a club has made it clear enough for a player to do that - it's pretty likely to come out.

I thought I saw somewhere that Essendon did a late last minute due diligence on Archie after getting wind that we were into him, and sure enough he got picked by them. I'm not sure how accurate though

Out of all the clubs why would other recruiters be obsessed with copying us? We haven’t nailed a draft in a long long time

Maybe Essendon’s recruiters rate O’Bree highly

Has Langford gone forward again? He’s played some back this year too
I can't say I've paid any attention to an Essendon game this year that wasn't on ANZAC Day - he was forward at the end of that but defence early I think - but you're probably right - with Wright, May and Caddy playing - they've probably mainly used him in defence. So there's probably 4 ahead of McMahon.
