Tenace, D Johnson and Byrnes would be the ones gone. I'd like to see, anyway.

Not my man Hogan though! :p :( Also we'd all love to see NAblett come back.

And I'd be very disappointed to see Prismall go, he's only 21 years old and will be the future in the middle with Selwood!

West wont go, he's only 20 also... Should be in the middle with Prismall and Selwood in the future.

To be honest you'll probably get him for nothing in the PSD if you play your cards right as he is uncontracted.

With both the Eagles and Freo struggling big time through the midfield I don't think they would let him slip through if they could get him for nothing.

The thread has it pretty well covered I think. Tenace, DJ, Ablett gone. Byrnes, Davenport, Hogan nervous. The last two, being unproven, would be bloody stiff.

Off topic but i dont know if it deserves a new thread, but who do you think the cats will opt out of Hawkins and Lonergan this week. Lonergan is putting together some reasonable consistent games, but of recent Hawkins has been dominating the VFL. Your would think the cats will be considering bringing Hawkins into the game against adelaide this week, Kicked 7 last week, Lonergan only managed 2 when we scored over 180. Who do you think will play? Hawkins, Lonergan or both?

i
1 good game is hardly dominating. Lonegran gets to the ball, disposal lets him down. He will stay for a while till Hawkins is more consistent.
Tenace gone
Hogan gone possibley but they still have wraps on him
DJ gone
Nablett probably!
Byrnes good bye - please, Varcoe has him for pace, goals, pressure (Byrnes) oh and Talent! the oinly thing he doesnt have over him is the premiership medal.
Davenport is a shoe in to stay,

what would you guys take for Prismall, have thought about this long and hard, and he seems to have a very good head on his shoulders, althouigh some people (mainly Cats fans) have said that he would struggle at other clubs being alot higher up the pecking order in a midfield.

What about a 3rd rounder, Essendon would not be willing to give up their first 2 draft picks for a largely untried, unproven young midfielder, he has shown glimpses of what he can produce but is their a spot at the geelong midfield on a consistant basis.

I am also a huge fan of Tenace, how has he played in the VFL, where is he best suited to, is he still running out of dedence for the reserves.

How does Davenport go, same type of mould as Prismall?? any one else>

Third round pick for Tenace and you don't get Prismall, OR Prismall and Tenace for a second round.

Basically what I was going to say. Cheers.

Lonergan is a really smart player and seems to make the most of the greater skill level at the higher grade. By that I mean he times his leads very well and seems to mark most of what comes at him fairly well. Once he gets it in a goal scoring position he'll have a shot too which gives the team confidence in what is happening down in the forward line. Lonergan is a presence all match long. On top of all this he can pinch hit in defence or even in the ruck

Oppose that to Hawkins who times his leads poorly, but can take more spectacular marks, but also drops regulation catches. Hawkins fades out of large patches in games due to fitness/confidence/concentration. Also Hawkins will often make a mess of it once he gets it with a poor chip pass or handball over the top to a player who is not likely to do much with it even though he's calling for it loudly. At this stage Hawkins cannot go to defence or the ruck

At this stage I think Lonergan is a much better fit in the 1's. Hawkins will get much better with experience though, but maybe not this year

Byrnes, David Johnson and Tenace are probably all gone, the club will do what they can to keep Prismall, and the rest is anyones guess.

I agree. Looking over the games from earlier this year, all the Tommahawk has to do is get confident and get HUNGRY. That ball is MINE. The goals are MINE. You want the ball, Stokesy? Piss off, I'm gonna drill this bastard from 60!!

Get HUNGRY and become something to be feared, Tom!

Lonegran gets to the ball, disposal lets him down. He will stay for a while till Hawkins is more consistent.

Having watched him in the VFL quite a few times last year especially, I think Lonergan is possibly the best set shot for goal on our list. It would have to be between him and Ling from anywhere inside 40. I know he's missed a couple of easy ones in the last few weeks, but I think thats just nerves and he'll revert to form once he settles.

Re list changes, I agree with previous posters that Tenace and DJ are the obvious ones - both GAWN. The other one I would love to see us put on the trade table is Byrnes, and if we get an offer of pick 90, TAKE IT! NOW!!

Hogan is probably next in line after that, followed by Davenport and West. I would hate to see Davenport in particular traded - I think with his speed, motor, goal-kicking ability and ball magnetism, he has the potential to be a great player for us. West also looks too much of a prospect to get rid of just yet, while I am less certain on Hogan. He's had a couple of good performances, but he just looks a long way off a regular senior spot and - I'll be honest here - he reminds me a little bit of Byrnes . That said, if we have room I would be happy to keep him for another development year, just not at the expense of anyone else.

However, I think there is a pretty good chance we won't have to trade more than two. Harley is eligible for the vets list next year which I think puts him outside the 38, I reckon NAblett is still a longshot to come back, and there is a reasonable chance Prismall will want to leave and will be traded. Thats definitely one, probably two and maybe three spots freed up right there. Also, I can't see anyone being upgraded from the rookie list - Bedford is the only one who has to be promoted or dumped, and I haven't seen much to suggest he deserves a senior list spot.
