tell me what you think and what we would give for them?
I think they would bring alot of marketing value as well (especially Browny!!)

I can't see us getting either of those players, and to be honest, I don't think we need more midfield/small forward/running type players... we need key position forwards.

We don't need more midfielders, but we certainly do need more small forwards and running types.

We struggle to kick a winning score, partly from not have a potent forward, be it small or tall.

We also are close to the slowest team in the league, any kind of hard running player should be welcomed with open arms at Skilled Stadium.

And key marking forwards. I would much rather see us trade our midfielders for marking forwards than small forwards. That should be our priority, because we've struggled for too many years to fill our FF and CHF positions.

Couldnt agree more we need a few big guys but they are risky
we need to have more run off the half back line and a key goal kicker who has explosive pace,
Wojinski is super quick but doesnt get enough of the ball and dispose of it well enough

I got hounded down by some saints supporters in another forum but how would you cats supporters take to this trade?

Gehrig + 2nd round pick + blake (tallish half back GOP)

for

Enright + first round pick?

You get a 27 year old KPP that could be your fullforward for 4 - 5 years, a handy hlaf back flanker and a extra second round pick.

We would take enright any old day and will love to get our hands on clarkes brother (saints supporter and all)......

No thanks.Gehrig is past his use by date and that mullet will scare kids away from Skilled Stadium.

Agree with Jubs.

No point in trading a 21 year old onballer AND pick 2, for Gehrig, pick 22 odd and some junk.

Perhaps if you gave us the first round pick...........

Guys I put this on the main forum with all the Trent Croad talk but it didnt get much of a response.
If we cant get one gun forward then how about we get two goodish tall forwards. The only problem would be our salary cap

Geelong gives its first pick (likely to be 2) to Hawthorn for Nathan Thompson who give pick 9 to Fremantle who in return give Croad to Geelong

Summary:
Geelong In: Croad and Thompson (a forward line) - Out: pick 2

Fremantle In: pick 9(and salary cap releif) - Out: Croad

Hawthorn In: pick 2 - Out: Thompson and Pick 9 (basically trading Thompson to move up 7 places in the draft. The difference between pick 2 and 9 is huge)

I think its pretty fair. We could also trade a late pick or a player like Rahilly to sweeten the deal for the hawks.

Geelong would be happy, so would Freo and Hawthorn can claim a gun.

i don't see how Thompson is worth a top 4 pick. I personally don't rate the guy that highly (probably because of his injury problems)

Perhaps a better deal would Thompson + 9 for our first pick + fringe midfielder.

We on trade 9 + fringe player for Croad...

But yeah, it depends on whether Fremantle trades Croad eh? ;)

Mattstar
your right he is not worth our first pick! But read the post I said that we would be getting Croad and Thompson for that pick. It's a three way deal. Surely getting these two for pick two is worth it.
We could play Croad at Full forward, Thompson at CHF, pinch hitting in the ruck for King. Kent could roam around the foward line on the third best defender and kill it. He is a top mark for his height and is quick. That leaves Steve johnson who can play tall or small and Ablett and Chapman to kick and create the crumbing goals.

Now I don't know about you but that forward line would concern me if I was an oppostion coach. hopefully the midfield will chip in with a few and we will start to kick our 15-20 goals a match.
It will also allow guys like Lonegan, Mackie, Blake and hopefully our other priority pick :) to physically develop. Forwards develop faster when they are playing in successful sides where they can ease into it.

Anyway thats just my opinion. I need something to hope for.

I'm not a huge wrap for Nathan Thompson, and would prefer Croad come to Geelong rather then Thompson.

Croad could add versitility to the side, being able to play at CHF, FF and in defence if required. He doesn't get this opportunity at Fremantle, and that's one of the reasons they haven't seen the best of him so far. Maybe I'm remembering Croad as he was at Hawthorn... a young, athletic CHF/CHB who could jump, take big marks and was fairly quick.
