Mid season trade- terrible idea

Big fan. Would love to see teams have more mechanisms by which to improve.

With a mid season trade you'd see more ability to cover injuries, and therefore better football, which I think is the main reason I watch the game. To see the best quality spectacle.

It works both ways. A player like Ruggles languishes in the VFL with zero chance of getting a senior game because he is out of favour. Now imagine if our ruck stocks were depleted by injury, as happened in the early to mid 2000's, and we could trade a Ruggles for a genuine ruckman. Could be the difference between playing finals or not

Not sure how it would work out in AFL, but in the states, a mid-season push trade is often about off-loading salary by out of contention teams looking at the future.
