What do we think ? Some teams didn't get a selection because they kept their list healthy but others like Richmond thru a retirement ( forced ? ) get to eye pick a player to improve their list in Picket. I don't know what's the opinion

Clubs had their eyes on and interviewed Pickett before the last few national drafts and still overlooked him.Pickett was Pick 13 in the mid-season draft who only the week before had suffered a broken finger.
To be eligible to be in the mid-season draft a player had to be nominated for an AFL National Draft previously; so every club has previously had the opportunity to recruit Pickett. It's not like he was a spud for 8 years in the WAFL and became a star in May--- it's just that Richmond was prepared to take a risk on him despite his history & injuries.

Lmao. So many clubs had an opportunity to select Pickett and didn’t. Used it to select youngsters which wasn’t its intended purpose. What do we think ? This. Richmond used the mid-season draft for the purpose it was brought inWe had a mid-year retirement due to injury as Grigg couldn’t get over his hip issues.
We selected a mature age player who plays a position we don’t have a great deal of depth in (midfield/inside midfield).
That depth was tested when Graham dislocated his shoulder in the PF, as it was either going to be a mature-age body, or an 18 year old draftee (Jack Ross) being thrown into the heat of a grand final.
I’d say we used the mid-season draft exactly as it was intended.

We really need to look at some of the sides that selected 18/19 year old kids to warehouse them before this years draft.
Not in the spirit of the rule IMO.
I thought Collingwood played their mid season top up player too.
Pickett was the 11th player taken in the mid season draft.
If Brisbane played at the Gabba for ten weeks in a row, or sixteen times in a season there would be comments about it.Not intending to have a shot at the tigers , they were just an example. My point is some clubs got a chance to improve their lists and others didn't ,must a discussion piece boys
