We need to lose to Collingwood next week and Gold Coast need to beat (just looking it up) Geelong.

****.
There are others in the draft attracting just as much, if not more attention. Could still be a goer.

I have been tracking him out of interest. According to the stats he had a quiet day against werribee, 9 disposals and 1 point. Unless I ahve it wrong you might be looking at the week before.
I might have, the VFL website was being an absolute bitch and not loading properly. When it did finally load, that was the info that came up Apologies if that was the case.

I'd assume Dunkley will be selected before our pick 5?

Is Cody Hirst our possible insider - mid ? Not from this write-up: winger/forward
At least four clubs are vying for Eastern Ranges ball-winner Cody Hirst, with Sydney and Melbourne believed to be two of the keenest suitors for the midfielder.

Do we need a tall (given all our injuries: Naismith, Cameron, ...)
South Australian ruckman Michael Knoll was a late addition to the medical screening list, with the tall impressing in the state league game against the WAFL. Knoll won best-on-ground honours and is seen as one of the best ruck options for Monday’s draft.

South Fremantle Marlion Pickett 26 years old 183cm and 85kg tough nut
"He's obviously got some attributes – super-quick, really strong for his size, hard at the ball, can play virtually anywhere," South Freo coach Todd Curley told AFL.com.au. https://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-11-23/dont-miss-plugandplay-pickett-wafl-coach-warns

I suspect it will be GC who will take Dunkley. Others I don't see fit their needs.

gc got rid of lyons because they have will brodie in their reserves team. I could be wrong but I don't see how Dunkley fits with their list.

Yeh I can imagine the decision being made now was a mixture of Reg genuinely struggling with his back, the club wanting to ensure Melican/Aliir play senior games (perhaps the club had suggested to Grundy there's no guarantee you'll play seniors when you are fit), and the draft coming up on Monday.

Would any of the players we draft be possible AFL ready players or of that calibre? I'm not seeing any players that could break it into the AFL.

I'd like to see us get Ben Kelly. He's a 200cm defender/ruckman. From Albury. And of course Dunkley looks to have put on a few kilos over Christmas.

I actually think it was a mistake not taking him in the rookie draft. The game he played for us in the NEAFL I think showed us something and his pedigree is "late developer". It's a pretty inexact science though. Harry Reynolds seems to be showing a bit and Durack Tucker continues to be injured unfortunately.

Don't we now have 3 spots available on the list?

Tippet's spot went to McClean.

Maibaum.
Smith.
Grundy.

Maibaum was replaced by McLean.

Tippett and Grundy retirements open up 2 spots for us.

Smith is only on the long term injury list, not the inactive list (i.e. hasn’t been ruled out for the season)
