Given we do pick up H Black tomorrow, and we have already snared Carr, who is going to be on the outer next year?

I would expect that Dunn and Smith will continue pushing for a spot and M Carr will be back to full fitness.

Could be tough for Cookie and Macca to get a game.

I am not sure whether Pavlich can cut it as a CHF. I think his best position is CHB, but we have Mcpharlin and other, so we don't need him to play in that position. His second best position is in the midfield where he is one of our best midfielders, but with J carr joining and maybe H black we have plenty of depth in the midfield. Even with those two inclusions pavlich would still be one of ou bst midfielders, but the problem is relative to the rest of the competition our midfield is pretty decent. Our forward line on the other hand is a different story, it is crying out for for a key forward. Despite pavlich probably being better suited to a half back\ midfield role i think we need him to playing at CHF.
The problem can his shoulders stand the pressures of playing CHF. I would hate see him injured as he is one of our best players.

This is my side. I reckon McPharlin might be worth a punt at CHF. Let Pavlich play a roaming Hird type role, although I think he is good enough to hold down CHB.

Here's my 22.

B: Hayden Haddrill Parker
HB: Thornton Polak M. Carr
C: Headland Hasleby Black
HF: Bell McPharlin Pavlich
F: Medhurst Murphy Farmer

R. J. Longmuir J. Carr Schammer

I: Sandilands Webster Walker

Last spot out of Dodd/Woods/Cook/McManus/Browne/Dunn/Grover/Gilmore/Siegert/Mundy/Smith/Whoever.

Couldn't decide :)

Your on the same wavelength as me Kenny. Polak at CHB, McPharlin at CHF and Pav "roaming" around.

People have been talking up Dunn and Murphy, but one player who has slipped under the radar a bit, is Mundy. I have been very impressed with how he has progressed in the WAFL, although he may still need a season of adding beef, before he is ready for senior action.

Look at this link I created and have a look at your midfield (if Black comes over)

http://finalsiren.com/PlayerCompare.asp?SeasonID=&SelectedPlayers=1104,755,534,1105,136,&Compare=Go

Thats a top class midfield with an average 92 kicks a game compared to Brisbanes 100 KAG

http://finalsiren.com/PlayerCompare.asp?SeasonID=&SelectedPlayers=117,436,189,345,585,&Compare=Go

I like your potential spine as well

FB:McPharlin
CHB:Polak
C:Carr
CHF:Pavlich yes I think he will do ok
FF:Longmuir  Ok 4/5 isnt too bad or maybe Pavlich there?

Or would Parker be your FB at a pinch with Polak CHF and Pavlich FF? IMO you still have 1 weak area....do you have it weak at the back end or the front end?

What I am saying is it looks really good for Fremantle in 2005....just get rid of the coach

Yeah your right. Mundy looks like a Dustin Fletcher type but he is so far away physicaly it is not funny

I'm thinking,

B: Parker Haddrill Siegert
HB: Headland Polak Thornton
C: Hayden J.Carr Black
HF: M.Carr McPharlin Pavlich
F: Farmer Murphy Webster
R: J-Lo Hasleby Bell
I/C: Sandi McManus Cook Campbell

(This team is not drawn to scale.)

Here's my effort..

B: Parker Haddrill Thornton
HB: Webster Polak Walker
C: Schammer J.Carr Black
HF: M.Carr McPharlin Pavlich
F: Farmer Murphy Medhurst
R: J-Lo Hasleby Bell
I/C: Sandi Headland Cook Hayden

I/R: Dunn, McManus, Gilmore.

Sheesh thats an alright looking team.. can't wait for the season already. Hope we get Black.

.... but our team looked alright at the end of last season aswell.

Can't complain. We get two very good midfielders and the only player from the first 22 we lost was Simmonds, which allows Murphy to take his place in the team. Sounds pretty good to me.

I bet our salery cap is looking a bit tight ATM.

Murphy isn't fit for AFL level yet and will need time to develop as an AFL forward. Give him a year out of the pocket with Medhurst, Push Pav/Polak/McPharlin to Full Forward, one to Centre Half Forward and the other at Centre Half Back. That gives us a rotatable spine of good players, takes the pressure off Medhurst and Murphy, gives Murphy time to develop.

So...
B: Hayden Hadril Thornton (does the Parker job and Parker is getting on)
HB: Webster Pav/Polak/McPharlin Walker
C: Schammer J.Carr Black
HF: Headland Pav/Polak/McPharlin Browne (most underrated player IMO)
F: Murphy Pav/Polak/McPharlin Medhurst
FOLL: Sandilands Bell Haselby
INT: Jlo M.Carr Farmer Dunn/Parker/Woods

Personally that would be my side but hey, that's just me!

I like the idea of Murphy serving an "apprenticeship" in the forward pocket. So in effect on the full forward line we can have two tall marking options, plus a small crumber.

Leave Polak down back and play Pav and McPharlin forward in a sort of dual CHF / FF role, moving around as the situation requires. This will allow Murphy to drift over into the square.

Yep. You could even have Johnson on the bench and rotate with Murphy (his "apprenticeship") or Medhurst (Gives us a third tall forward).
