Some of the players that are no longer with us were moved on very much for the reason they were incapable of adhering to instruction.
As much as we wanted Robinson to perform one way.........he went the other.

Bell has to learn when to dish off and listen to those around him, as his peripheral vision is ordinary........He has to or it may become difficult.
He also doesn't break his face after a long night out then lie to the club.

I know we all wish to have most of our players run through the centre, but I don't see Bell being one of them.

He looks good when collecting on the run but he can't do what Judd, Gibbs, Carrazzo, Murphy and Cripps can do and that is to take clean possession of he ball from a stationary position and feed it out to advantage. I doubt he'll ever be able to do that regularly.

Docherty and Menzel will, though.

In the two games I've watched this year he seems to have added the ability to win the ball in close and feed the runners with handball (whereas he seemed previously to be limited to trying to crash his way through). That's probably more important than just winning the ball and running himself because it helps the runners to be more effective.

Bell is actually quite an interesting player because at 188cm and 100kg, with the ability to take a mark and a range of 55m he is also dangerous at half forward as you've pointed out.

He's actually a lot like Myers. He's basically got all of the tools, it's just taken him a bit to stop playing like the biggest kid in school.

Depth is definitely an issue. But let's be honest with ourselves - when you turn over half the list in 2 years, depth is obviously something that will take a hit while the new blokes hit their straps and hopefully become regular quality contributors.

Little Marc Murphy. Wants to play for Carlton and even be captain when he grows up but says he'd be a shithouse media performer. Gotta love the little tyke.....

Bells touch is looking pretty good this preseason. I quite like the HHF idea, he has the ability to motor up and back and take a strong overhead grab. Oppositions could have trouble finding an opponent to go with him, a little like crameri at essendon

Given our (perceived) lack of proven goal scorers, I am happy for Tenzel to around the HFF/Wing. I think he because he is such a damaging scoreboard pressure type, if not in goals, then goal assists/goal scoring opportunist type, its crazy not to utilize him there.

It's bit of a robbing Peter to Paul conundrum though, really wish the likes of Nick Graham and Whiley push on so we may avoid arguments about Menzel's best position in future.

Ok lets talk Daisy. For the amount of coin he is on (I believen he is in top 5 paid players at club) he really needs to play midfield and have a top 5 finish in BnF.
Last year he had no preseason but this year he has had a full pre season so we can't afford to have him sitting in a forward pocket, he has to start playing at least 70% game time in the middle. If we wanna climb the ladder he must fire up!!!!!

or he could just play in the Eddie betts position and kick 51

Overpaying to get someone here and overpaying someone who is already here is different. One you're forking out heaps to a guy who wants to be here, the other is you're forking out heaps to someone who could take it or leave it /doesn't want to be here.

Truth is, it's tough to build a list and win a premiership with players on the list on far too much or more than their worth. You'd hope that Thomas who is probably on a little much, would pay us back and take a bit less on his next contract.

It all comes back to culture, you can't have guys who hold footy clubs to ransom and go for grossly overpriced contracts "fitting in" at your footy club, it needs to be something that's not seen in a good light amongst their fellow team mates. Waite gone, Betts gone, Judd setting the example and taking a bit less, no doubt we have others sacrificing their salaries for the good of the club/list.

Wasn't that why we couldn't keep him? He was after too much.

I'm pretty sure Betts is on less at Adelaide than Thomas is getting at the Blues. Considering he is costing us more money I want to see Thomas on the ball

Just want to see Thomas play really good footy, not overly picky where he does it as long as he is doing it. He strikes me as someone who could play his best footy playing a similar game to how Heath Scotland played for us by playing between half back and on the ball. I think we had to get him here by paying big money and out bidding Collingwood's bid right?

when he was at his best he was a gut running outside mid who is very good in the contest... that would be pretty handy... there is a few question marks about his kicking tho...

Yeah, his field kicking seems ok, questions over his goal kicking and field kicking. Liked the way he played across half back, seen him play there and play there very well before, not 100% on him spending a heap of time forward, but we'll find out.

I've been big on moving Walker from the backlines to the forward line for this season as we are going to struggle to kick a winning score most weeks, however what if we chucked Walker into the midfield once he returns to the team.
We all no he has a big tank and can find the footy but has never really been given a full season in the midfield to see what he can do. Might help with our lack of depth through the middle.
