Just wondering about people's thoughts on our midfields stats this year

NAME AVE DISPOSALS PER GAME
Ling 21.13
Ablett 19.77
Corey 23.93
Bartel 20.56
Milburn 19.25
Kelly 18
Hunt 16.59
Chapman 16.47
Enright 20.25

I know ablett, chapman and hunt not in midfield much but hunt a bit on the wing lately and ablett and chapman rotate through there

Personally i dont think any Geelong midfielder is having a better year than last year. Kelly isnt playing to crash hot, corey has a had a good year though, im not unhappy with 23 per game.Milburn would be close to winning our B&F!

You can look at stats all you want but it is the quality of the disposal that counts the most.

I also think a midfielder should be judged by the 1% deeds like pressuring, head over the pill etc.

Indeed, stats don't truly indicate how well a player is going. Look at Kelly, When we played poorly against Brisbane he was a true standout, and I believe the week after too, yet his disposals weren't the highest for the team.

Agreed, but I'd say as a whole he's been disappointing. The only midfielders I believe who have enjoyed good seasons have been Corey, Milburn and Enright (pre injury, and Milburn isn't really a midfielder). The rest - Ablett, Bartel, Kelly, Ling, Chapman have been sporadic and inconsistent. Sometimes great, sometimes down. The fact that Hunt is averaging almost 17 touches a game from the half back flank shows how much he has improved.

Feel also our midfield is down last year especially Kelly who i thought after his great game in rnd 1 against the tigers was all set for a big year but he has been very much up and down ans his skill level and shots on goal let him down, still he is coming off a broken leg and is calssy.

Tenace is young but i to got carried away with all the hype of the turbo but so far he hasn't shown alot, still very young and could turn out to be a gun but just a few question marks on him at this stage.
