Dubya has been re-elected, not much can be done about that now, so we may as well look at the postives.

However....in the next four years we can expect terrorism to escalate with ever greater number of muslims and jews dying in the middle east.

We can expect to see greater divides. Already our educatoin system popping out people like MillerCHF who see no problem in de-humanising entire populations.

We can expect to see escalating levels of global warming, as the US continue to snub its nose at it's own global responsibility.

But.....there's every chance that Kerry would have done little more. If Clinton's record in this fields is anything to go by as a standard by which Democrats are measured, then Kerry was surely no cure-all-ills.

Soooo....Bush at least is so bad that everyone outside of the US really is railing against US policy. For exmaple the European Union is being increasingly galvanised to act as a single cohesive unit (it's not there yet) that can challenge American hegemony, and that I guess is a small mercy.

To be honest, I've decided I'm pretty optimistic about W's next 4 years. Early on I think he was heavily dictated to and was the puppet of your Rumsfelds and real Neo-Cons.

But recently, although he is still a dumb-ass and hyper religious type, I've got the feeling that he is coming into his own and making his own mind up. Ok so that will still be governed by his christian beliefs, but they ain't that bad. I'd rather a religious man than an extreme right pseudo-religious neo-con.

Maybe I'm just trying to be optimistic in the face of adversity, but I think maybe W has a lot of unwarrented bad press. He is a bit stupid, but I don;t think he is evil. The word is he will also dump a number of his more extreme advisors, umm and COlin Powell which is a pity, so maybe we will see a warm fuzzy Bush for 4 years - hmm actaully that sounds quite fun:)

Now that he's got a mandate, and no fear of losing a vote, I'm actually more afraid of his domestic policy than his foreign policy.

I think he's gonna pack the Supreme Court with reactionary hard-liners and attempt to rewrite the whole constitution. I fear for abortion rights, privacy rights, and separation of church and state.

interestingly, due to the greivous errors made by the neo-con executive in relation to iraq, theres a chance of a major exec. reshuffle after this election... not saying its gona happen, but dont be suprized if the exec moves slightly more centrewards...
