Curly is correct. Dr Alberti will be a fine president of our club.

I understand that Sheahan has been a Bulldogs supporter since the 70s - about 35 years I've heard. ;)
Grew up in Werribee, barracking for the Dogs. Bernie Lee, the 1961 GF Full Back, was his idol.

Now says he supports "football".

Make what you will of that...

Looking at now and then, only 50% players of the 12 from the 2010 Prelim are still holding their 2010 form level, rest have slipped.

Just as many older players marking time in the side with sub par form as younger players struggling to come to terms with the game at the highest level of competition.

I don't like floggings, but I'm more forgiving of inexperienced youngsters copping a 10-12 goal flogging than older players who seek forgiveness week in week out and promise improvement that never comes.

I'd like to see more new players blooded between now an the end of the season.

It's hard to see where the improvement will come from unless we draft some star potential.

Losing Ward and Harbrow hurt us extremely badly. As did picking up duds to fill an age gap on the list. I can understand the reasoning behind it. But it was a poor decision.

As I see it...

Potential to improve on 2012 -
Tutt
Dickson
Williams
Howard (iffy)
Grant (potentially the best out of the lot)
Jones
cordy
Roughead
Jong
Roberts
campbell
Johannison
Hill
Pearce
Wood

Absolute faith they'll be good players -
Libba
Wallis
Dahlhaus
Smith

Potential to go backwards -
Murphy
Gia
Boyd
cross
Lake
cooney

The rest will most likely stay the same or be delisted. A fair chunk of our list is VFL standard and going to stay that way. Ie: Moles, Djekka, Sherman, Vez, Hooper, Panos, Skinner

On paper it's looking like it's going to get ugly in the next few years. Not too many players you'd lock in for 150 games in the potential list.

Who thought Dane swan would be a brownlow medalist on his first 2-3 years? I would have laughed if that was suggested way back then.

He's never rated us, even when we were playing good football and playing finals. He always found the negatives and focused on those, never rated any of our players as genuine stars
I just don't agree.

In both 2010 and 2011 Mike had us as Premiership favourites at the start of the year. I remember being flabbergasted that anyone could possibly fancy us as a chance at the start of 2011.

IMO we're a good chance for the spoon next year.
I don't think it's impossible that we could spoon it. But I'd say it's unlikely that GWS will go past us next year (short of a massive injury run).

If BMac is any good, you'd expect more improvement across our playing list than decay. We've really only gotten anything out of 5 older players this year (Boyd, Cross, Lake, Gia, Murph). And the rest of the list has plenty of upside.

We'll get little out of new draftees next seasons, and our older players will get worse or retire.
I agree, we are far worse off than Melbourne, GC,& GWS as far as list development goes. We are on a par with Port Adelaide.
Melbourne will improve rapidly and with two priority picks for Scully as well as the normal draft picks are well placed to build a good nucleus.
We are a long way behind all these teams in long term list strategy

Dunno, but you'll get more out of guys developing now like Cordy and Smith and Dahlaus etc. Get the drafting right/lucky and pick up at least one bloke who can play from the get go (and with two top ten, probably top 8, picks you'd hope you can do that) and it looks a lot better.
The jury is still out on Cordy. He looks good showing very little in my opinion, as well as being injury prone.
I am depressed thinking about our future at the moment.

You really can't tell who will make it, but I'm betting at least 80% of the current list won't be at the club in 5 years.
Wallis, Jones, Libba, Roughy, Dahlhaus, Smith, Howard, Tutt, Pearce, JJ will all make it

Not sure on Cordy and haven't seen enough of Cambell, Jong, Redpath etc

Can throw Higgins onto that list, been just about our best over the last month and a half

After being beaten by a reasonable VFL side on Saturday, what little optimism I had about the next couple of years melted away. The rebuilding of this team will take several years, particularly to find players with class. At the moment we have a few likely lads and a huge list of declining veterans, imported hacks and fringe dwellers. The most important personnel at the club going forward will be the recruiters, we can suffer more pain but we need to believe these guys will get it right!
