Mike Sheahan's Top 50

I think people need to read the article a little clearer...its who Mike thinks will be the top 50 THIS YEAR. It's only an assumption and I don't know why people are getting so worked up about it.

He has Ablett at Number 1 but if Ablett does a knee in Rnd 1 and is out for the season then his ASSUMPTION was incorrect. I didn't read too much into the article.

If Green and McLean can stay injury free in 2009 and the Dees are competitive, they would most deserving of a spot in the top 50. Hell even Bruce, Morton, Jones, Davey, Wonaeamirri, Garland and Grimes could make the list at the END of the year for all we know.

If the Dees have a better season this year and no Demons players make the list at the end of the year...that's when i will be pissed.

So many cheap possessions I mean playing HB flank is the best job in Australia these days...

Dale Thomas? WHAT? You've got to be joking.

Travis Cloke?? I'd call him 'Radar O'Reilly' or maybe Chris Tarrant, he sprays them that often...

Ryan Griffen shouldn't be on that list, and Sam Fisher is massively overrated.

Gee Goodwin and Enright!! thats a bit harsh.... There quality players then again its your opinion.

Enright is a cheap kick merchant and Goodwin was quality once but is past it now.

I don't think any Melbourne players really deserved to be in it. Brad Green would be the closest but i can't really say that he is any better than the ones already in it.

I don't mean it as a sledge against Melbourne. Look at it this way. in 2004, i think Hawthorn had 2 or so players in it. Now we have 2 in the top 5!.

My point is, it's a stupid list anyway.

Agree with you on Thomas, Fisher they are overated Fisher is a good player what was he top 25? That;s to high.

I rekon Pendleburry is the most overrated of the lot can play but he like Thomas goes missing to often. The y play greta games but then next week can play stinkers.

I'm just saying that Birchall gets a bit of an armchair ride across halfback. So, i mean what else can he do? He hasn't shown that he can play more than that role yet.

If he could switch up forward and be a goal kicking threat, or if he could rotate through the midfield and win some contested ball and rack up some clearances to advantage then he he'd become a more complete player.

Don't get me wrong, he's a quality player, but i don't think he's as good as some others that missed out on that list. He's one dimensional at this stage..

Fisher is a quality player too, but Mike's having a lend of us having him rated that high.

I think most people would take what Mike Sheahan thinks with a grain of salt really...

Scott Thompson, Brett Kirk, Lenny Hayes would shake their heads and laugh at Birchall, Rioli, Cloke, Griffen.

I thought i saw Dale Thomas on that list too but he's not there anymore. Joke selection anyway.

AS for Sam Fisher. He's a gun. Sets up the play and when required to play a KPP when Hughton and Maguire went down, did an excellent job. Sam Fisher 25 is okay to me.

I was in shock when I saw Goodwin, Enright and BIRCHALL (YES GRANT BIRCHALL) in it.

How can you be shocked that Enright made it in? He made the All Australian team last year. I would of thought that Brad Green would of made in the top 50 considering he was your best player last year by a long way.
