You can hardly argue that what he did was dirty, so would you be remotely happy if it happened to one of your players?
At least keep what happened in context of being discussed on the Richmond board. You don't see me on the Geelong board moaning about it do you?

Sorry guys, this is your board, but I'll give you an honest view from a Geelong supporter.

We have seen in done to our guys - when Brisbane were at their peak we got the crap beaten out of us year after year, on one occasion a young Joel Corey had his shoulder smashed by Michael Voss, and on another Darren Milburn copped similar treatment from Byron Pickett. That's the game - it's tough, and at times brutal.

So forgive me, but I really don't care what punishment we dish out. We copped it for long enough, I'm not going to start shedding tears because we're now strong enough to hurt opposition players. When we decline, as we will, it'll happen to us again. You guys might be dishing it out in 5 years' time. I bet you won't be feeling sorry for the opposition then. And neither you should.

I like Richmond, and I rate Edwards, good young player, and to be honest I have no idea whether Milburn will get cited or not. I really don't care either.

But I do like being on top. And after 30 years of being either crap or so-so, I really like winning every week. It doesn't sound nice or family friendly, but I couldn't care less how we do it.

Good luck for the rest of the season Tiges.

You tool SR. Go jump off West Gate.

Milburn won't get suspended. There's a precedent. They won't break it with a Geelong golden boy.

But eventually they need to look at these incidents and start punting players. There's no way a player can be allowed to slam another player headfirst into the turf at speed, while the second player is pinned and defenceless. Milburn's (and others) actions are dangerous. It needs to be stopped before a more serious injury than just a concussion occurs.

Cheers for your honest view mate. But to be honest, it doesn't really matter how strong either player, or either team is. Any player can slam any other play into the turf if they choose to - Edwards could have done it to Milburn too if he wanted.

the most sickening thing about it was the quality of our retaliation........

@$%#& right about it being a mistake, young fella was drilled into the ground face first having lost the pill about 5 sec earlier:confused:
its what good sides do ... intimidation

Roos mid to late 90`s
Essendon did it late 90`s
Brisbane did it

Now the cats

We need to go to school on that ..point is .. it makes you look over your shoulder and think twice .... its not tiddlywinks

**** yeah.

Saw Selwood have a go at Jackson on the replay because he was keeping Bartel quiet. How many friggn Richmond players were their helping Foley out and letting Ling know they were around?

Wallace wouldnt have put up with that for 2 seconds when he was at the Dogs. Would have sent Libba or Romero right over. Ling would have had more scratches on his face than red hair on his ugly ars.

How can you guys be so sure Milburn absolutely knew Edwards didn't have the ball when he hit the ground.

a) The tackle, in real time, took no more than 1 second from start to finish

b) Edwards HAD the footy at the beginning of the tackle.

Although it was unfortunate for Edwards, those things just happen.

Sorry if this is annoying. I asked this on the main board but didn't get a reply. Can anyone post a youtube link to the tackle? I live in Hong Kong and don't get Aussie media!

I don't understand why people are saying this. Is it relevant whether or not he had the ball? It would still have been a dirty tackle if he did have it...

The team is saying nothing. It's one poster on an internet forum. And Richmonth? The 'th' could mean anywhere from 4th to 16th. Crap pun. You fail.

thats all well and good provided the intimidatory tactics fit within the confines of the rules, this one didnt and it was missed by the umpire. spear tackles are a reportable incident therefore not a legit tackle . I'd like to see the officiating umpire be on the end of a couple at training during the week to serve as a reminder it's NOT ON:eek:

Milburn has been hit with a 3 game suspension (2 with early plea) for his tackle on Edwards. The tribunal deemed it as a level 4 engaging in rough play charge.
