Darren Milburn, Geelong, has been charged with a Level Four engaging in rough conduct offence against Shane Edwards, Richmond, during the third quarter of the Round 18 match between Geelong and Richmond, played at Telstra Dome on Saturday August 2, 2008.

In summary, his previous good record means that his sanction can be reduced from four games to two games, with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), high impact (three points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of seven activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Four offence, drawing 425 demerit points and a four-match sanction. He has an existing five-year good record, which reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 318.75 points and a three-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 239.06 points and a two-match sanction.

If you look at the replay carefully Milburn looks sideways just before he slings edwards to the ground. It was most apparent he KNEW the ball was released and edwards was no longer in posession yet he continued with the tackle and rammed edwards into the ground. A thug act and deserving of the 4 weeks. Cats supporters can get stuffed.:thumbsu:

No doubt in my mind Milburn was aware the ball had spilled however he wanted to get a little extra out of the tackle, he wasnt planning on KO'ing young Shane but wanted to make him earn it however it went wrong and is definately rough conduct. 2 weeks is about right for mine. Nothing like Basset and Harvey incidents as Milburn knew he no longer had the ball.

Milburn pushed it too far but on the other hand it was a great intro for titch to league football.

Thankfully he wasn't injured and can move on from all of this...

Don't get mad...get even!

How's all the Geelong supporters cracking the poos over on their board.

He is nothing but a thug. A dirty dirty thug.

Shane was our best without a doubt til that point he was really playing well. Future midfielder no doubt just needs to adress a few simple things like goalkicking and he will be aight.

Just watching the replay and Darren "mr clean " Milburn tried to rough up cam white .....what a man

What are the cats fans talking about saying they would get yellow/red cards over here?

We are Richmond Board, the most lenient board of all.

Matt Thomas did this to Nathan Bassett and nothing happened. whats the deal, why is he getting weeks? there is definitely inconsistency if one guy gets away with it and another gets weeks.

I see it as because Basset and Thomas were moving in the same direction, Thomas tackled him while he was kicking so Basset had forward momentum and there was the one action in the tackle, Thomas had no other option. If he didnt tackle him he would have been ridiculed

In this case Edwards and Milburn was basically stationary as Milburn tackled and knocked the ball out with HIS hands, and then Milburn wound up action and threw Edwards into the turf with a second action.

Best I can do for you in explaining the difference but its pretty clear if you watch the two side by side.

Yes Millburn new exactly what he was doing , I thought a week would of pulled it up though but it was pure bullying. I just was astounded by all the Cats players ferocious attack on our young players. I have never seen them so rabid against other sides. It was like Bomber Thompson said to them before the game that these boys are on the up so go out there and make a statement to them for years to come.

In reality it was like a 100 point shlaking for other teams we just did well to keep at it and not let it get really silly.

Do we have a weights room at punt road.

what geelong is peeved about is consistency, as no-one else has been done for this, and this is not the first time this has occured
4 weeks is extreme when viewed against 5 weeks for breaking one's jaw

understand you feel for your bloke

but what i don't get is the number of richmond posters on the geelong boards
