The other thing, Bo17, is that people are talking him up like he is a superstar.
They are being blinded from the flaws in his game because we are so rubbish.
The kid has flaws. He is not a good kick. Does everything else well, but has a major flaw.
Will be a really good player for us I reckon, but the sooner we recognise that his kicking is quite poor, the better we will be able to handle the fact that he will turn the ball over a bit.

You said he just can't kick I would have thought that's misguided in the extreme .....I'd say Hampson can't kick that label doesn't fit a bloke who missed about 5 targets out of. 30
Hampson has just about every flaw there is in his game.
Miles has only one major flaw and that's his kicking.
Chalk and cheese. hampson is shit full stop. Miles is a good inside mid who doesn't kick it well.

Good player and should be upgraded.

But let's calm down on saying this bloke is the savior.

Things he needs to work on for next season:

* Fitness base
* Core strength
* Kicking skills
* Speed

He's only young and is already a good player who should have been in the side from Round One, but has plenty to do.
He has 70% of our senior list already covered in these departments based on this performance. Shameful to see a young kid off the rookie list have more will and desire than players who've been there 5+ years.

I suspect he doesn't know the game plan well enough yet. Should probably be given some lock down defensive roles at VFL level
And thank god for that otherwise he'd be hobbled with Dimmer's instructions to the point of mediocrity...

Do you reckon miles can't kick or perhaps isn't an elite kick, the way I read it was like, he s a shit kick , like woeful bad

Good question. From what I saw yesterday, I would say he is a poor kick. Not woeful as in Matt Thomas woeful, but maybe a little worse than, say Grigg.
It's my only knock on him. We need to realise that he will turn it over at times. Just like Jackson has, but only recently we have seen the value in having someone like Jackson.

I said it earlier but there were a number of times during the game yesterday where he kicked under no pressure to a player that was also under no pressure. The ball bounced metres in front or to the side of them.

Last week his stats would have been better had Thomas not been around, a number of times both went for the ball and got in each others way. You can't play them both IMO, I would go for the younger in Miles. Miles isn't someone that needs to handball off like Thomas, you can still trust him with it, but he will make errors.

Jobe Watson was a bad kick at one stage, not as woeful as Thomas though..

Summed up perfectly. He'll be a good player for us, but I hope people just realise that he will make a lot of mistakes by foot. We bemoaned jacko for years until we realised how his toughness would be good in a good side. Miles will be a slight upgrade on Jackson, but only in a good side. I'm excited by him and his good qualities...I'm just not going to ignore his one bad quality.

Good point. But Jobe was never a horrible kick.

Surely he has to get the Rising star nod tomorrow? 30 touches in a losing side, and currently ranked number 1 in my Ultimate Footy categories competition :p

To be eligible for nomination, a player must be under 21 on 1 January of that year and have played 10 or fewer senior games before the start of the season

From my understanding he only just falls into that. As he played 10 games before he joined us. Then his age as well lol

Yep I knew about the 10 games, didn't know about the age though.

Maybe an average kick (not poor) but can win his own footy which is invaluable imo. Team mates will learn this and run off him. May get to the stage where he has 20 handballs and 10 kicks in his 30 possessions. But lets not knock a kid who has shown more promise in his first 2 games then any of our other recycled spuds.

What about Tuck. His kicking was terrible, yet he drew mass love for a long time. Miles kicking can become better.

so your judging him off one performance, hes had games at 100% in the vlf. Name a player in the afl that doesn't turn the ball over (other than ablett)even sam mitchell misses plenty of targets and i rate him as an elite kick and im talking about a ball winner not a soft outside player like suckling off half back.
Doesn't mean he cant kick or is a bad one, because he misses a few targets in his 11th game at the top level.
