Apparently he was the best clubman you could possibly ask for. If only that translated onto onfield form.

I remember him being a rubbish defender early (saw Richo give him a bath in his very early years) and then turning into a very promising young key position forward. He lead well up the ground and played well as a link man. We then started to realise that for a CHF he didn't kick many goals. Calls were for him to play closer to goal yet Danniher thought it'd be better to **** him around by playing him defence on the "gorillas" because guys like Rivers, Fergeson and Carroll weren't trusted. That game where he apparently smashed Hall (who kicked about 1.5) really hurt his career.

Finally, we thought he'd broken through in the 2006 semi final vs Fremantle. He was taking pack marks and kicking important goals. Wow! While this did almost completely put an end to his career as a defender, he never got near that form again as a forward :(

Farewell Brad, I hope you get a gig up on the GC to kick a few goals and work on your already respectable tan. You've always been a very frustrating player to watch, but never have we doubted your passion for the club, the contest and the game.

Hopefully he can do us a favour by being the uncontracted player that the GC take. If he quits Melbourne and joins then through the draft, then doesn't that leave us venerable to have another uncontracted player stolen?

said everything that is on my mind, kudos melbournemartin, so sick of people bagging miller. The thing is boys and girls, he made it into an afl player and a freaking brilliant vfl player. Better than most if not all of you can do.

How bout not criticising someone who does a better job than you at something.

Keep that in mind next time you bag any player ever. Or have a crack at a politician.

pfft off calls are different, sometimes this is down right rude.

you can call scientists idiots, they are probably not but they are a once off or whatever.
Some people on this site have had a vendetta against miller for quite sometime. its pathetic.

And the red headed demon i dont have to be better than it at something because stabbing someone in the back is stabbing someone in the back.

Frustrating player - plateau'd as the CHF mark on the wing went out of fashion. For the life of me I couldn't understand his constant need to handball to stationary targets when he should have been going for goal.

Promised so much, but delivered just not enough (not unlike watching Revenge of the Sith).

He's too good to only play VFL... I hope he gets picked up next year.

Gold Coast really should look at him as they will need a bigger body up forward and he can not only provide this but leadership as well.

I also hope he gets one last game this week. He may not have been our best player in his time at the dees, but he has been a solid contributer over the years and he definately deserves it.

Guys, I have only become teary at the football twice. The first time was in 1995 against the Swans when Schwarter, in his second match back from K1, fell to the ground and did not get up . . . . . . and the second time was in 2008 when Miller took that mark in the goal square against Brisbane, where we won by one point. Remember how he held it up above his head? Oh, it was a moment of grace. My kids said to me at the time: why are you crying Dad? And to this day, I cannot explain it.

Thanks for that memory, Brad. Now go and impregnate that wife of yours. We want some father-son selections, and I reckon she is, well, pretty good stock :thumbsu:

Should of traded him to Sydney when we had the chance. I feel sorry for Bell because the hit he took from Johnson really stuffed up his career but not Miller.

We gave him 10 years and all he did was give us 1 good game a year. It's an absolute joke that he has played well over 100 games for the club.

I'd love to see him at the Gold Coast so other supporters can tear their hair out instead of just us Demon supporters.

We got Miller because we traded Grgic that adds up to 14 years of hell.

Show a little respect guys. He was a frustrating footballer but he always gave everything he had and was from all reports a great clubman.

I remember when Watts and Miller were both playing for Casey and the Coburg players got stuck into Watts and Brad had a crack at them straight away, even though he would have known Watts was going to push him out of Melbourne. Summed up Brad as a footballer and person I think.

I also think Brad Gotch announcing this doesn't show Miller much respect at all, but if he gets a farewell game (Which he should) then it is probably fair enough.
Agree totally.

I think my first post on Bigfooty was in defence of Miller, to the point someone said Welcome to BF Pia.

Miller was my favorite player for a long time, only changing when I realised he wasn't going to get enough games to follow.

I think he has shown a lot of class in how he has handled the announcement, more so considering the disrespectful way it came out. I sure hope he does get a farewell game. Deserved in my opinion.

I suspect he is not a good chance of going to GC.

If the Dees thought GC would take him they wouldnt have announced this and would have waited for some compensation.

You'd think if the GC wanted him, or any other club for that matter, they could just grab him as a mature rookie, much less cost for them.

PS - if it's true he doesn't want a farewell game, instead of playing finals at Casey, well that just shows what a fantastic club man he is.

I'll be very disappointed if Bell and Miller don't play for Casey in the rest of the VFL finals. Same thing happened last year where we pretty much abandoned them.
