The thing about darling is: if we had demanded that judd play as a kpf theres a good chance that hemay not be remembered as the star he was.

Chances are if we got nn to play as a small forward he prob wouldnt have won aa.

Yet we get a firward flanker in darling and constantly drmant that he play chf and wonder why he sucks.

We really are pants on head stupid arent we.
Agree 100%

Darling is the guy who likes to jump from the back of the pack and if the ball goes to ground take a snap over his shoulder. Doesn't have the footy smarts to play FF or CHF.

Well I agree there needs to be a few changes but I gotta question Simmos ability to fire up the troops ,how many times is it now against the Hawks at the G and we haven't fired a shot ,it's seems to be the same old attitude and I'm not sure if Bunga is the right captain I'm thinking JK is far more inspirational , I'm happy to be proved wrong though
After the 2015 flogging at the G the players stated that it was going to make them hungry after losing to the Hawks then last year, fell in a hole again .and now this We don't seem to be able to bring the intensity anymore , I think we have a few to many plodders in the middle we need to inject some pace and guys like Masten ,Hill Jetta have to be replaced you can't win a flag with guys like these playing

I think we tend to look for Kennedy too much he's always got at. Least two against him at any contest ,in a one on one Darling is a big chance it doesn't get kicked to him enough

Midfield gets beaten
Darling kicks 4 goals
Calls to trade Darling :drunk:
Do Eagles supporters even watch the game or just look at the stat sheet? It was the worst 4 goal performance of the year from any club.

And the call to trade him goes back to 2015. His ordinary performance in finals, squibbing contests, dropping chest marks, flopping around throwing his head back. He's not good enough.

Disagree, see my previous post re Darling
Darlings only goal that wasnt joe the goose was a push in the back that the umpire calls 99% of the time. There is just no defending that twit. Trade him while he still has value.

I'm not his sponsor but if Duggan gets picked on by you nobs or gets dropped I'm gonna kill someone. Thought the guy had a very decent first half.

EP is clearly a mess so I would love to give lamb etc a chance at AFL level before writing them Off.

In terms of the current so called "best 22" I think the following needs to change:
-More mozzie fleet emphasis (we need 2 talls up foward and one medium at most and that's it. The rest are small crumbing poppy Cyril types. darling, lecrap, hill, etc while all different prefer to lead up or seagull out the back and are not big or small just mediums)
-if your an outside player you need speed and should still be able to tackle/ run down players (no masten types)
-less plodders overall (sorry priddis )
-older players to be delisted or played at east Perth as player coaches to help develop youngsters. ( Mitchell, Petrie, butler)
- more sports psych and mental toughness training

Yeah and if Kennedy kicked 3 goals in that fashion it would have been a good day at the office.

Also Darling dished off a certain goal to Cripps, your personal bias is sickening kind sir.

It wasn't a push in the back, it was a push in the side. He used his strength which he has plenty of, and it was one of the few instances in that game where we got a favourable call. We played horribly but the umpiring was horrendous, every time we were breaking free from a clearance Hawthorn were paid a soft free kick that nobody could even see. No pro Eagles umpiring bias in this game.

Probably because he often goes missing in big games at the MCG.
Yeo was thrown all over the ground in a bid to stop the breaking dam. Don't see how yesterday's debacle can be laid at his feet. It's obvious he plays better at half back, he's one of the few positives this year.

Duggo and Nelson will be good. I'm worried about Sheed though. Turns out he's just maybe not very good at all? I'm not sure what he's actually good at
Since Sheed was injured last year, he hasn't come back the same player. It makes you wonder if he has fully recovered, or if he's not receiving the correct coaching? It's a mystery as he showed a lot of promise in his first season of playing AFL, to the extent that When he was out injured last year many were saying what we were missing was Sheeds toughness in and under?

He's a good field kick, has good vision, has some size (unlike Masten for example). Don't think he was the worst yesterday. Think he was better than Duggan yesterday although I'm still hopeful about Duggan.

List clean out - maybe? They ran a few guys back (Masten, Butler etc) because they thought we were closer to a premiership than we currently are.

Position improvements - definitely. I'm on the Darling CHF issue. Maybe McGovern has to play CHF all year just to see what it looks like then we can chase a CHF in the offseason.

Yeo keeps getting a new role every other week but we needed him making an impact yesterday and he was stuck at full back.

My question is - where are our draftees? Top pick from 2015 & 2016 drafts yet to see a game.

yet we still play Masten who refuses to compete (subbed out in a GF under the mercy rule) one on one and Sheed has no second effort or willingness to chase.

perhaps a replay will be kinder. But our drafting has avoided competitors

No way was Sheed better than Duggan yesterday. Duggan won many contests against bigger bodied opponents in the middle helping us get the ball forward, even if he did make the odd mistake whereas Sheed was virtually invisible all day.

With Priddis, I'd like to see him not played. You guys didn't miss him in the quarter final against the Hawks.
This. We played our best game in the last..... I dunno, like, 10 years, without Priddis. He's well past it now. His best seasons were '15 and '16 when he stopped slamming it on the boot or giving it to teammates under pressure and actually put it into space for Shuey and Gaff. But now his quick hands - the main thing that made up for his severe lack of pace - aren't there. He's fumbling more than I've ever seen and it seems like his legs have gotten even slower if that was possible.

A new midfield needs to be built around Shuey (and Naitanui when he returns). Keep Sheed and Duggan in there for the rest of the year and let them develop. Run Nelson and Yeo through there. Blood Mutimer, Partington and Venables. Masten, Redden and Hutchings can be valuable depth but none of them should be in the best 22. Masten's too weak, Redden's too dumb and Hutchings is too vanilla. Gaff is a great weapon when we actually have a midfield that can stand up under pressure and feed him into space but when they go to water like they always do at the MCG, he's useless.

We have too many players who don't hunt the ball or the man like Hawthorn did, instead they choose to corral or wait for their opponent to pick up the ball and then lay a piss weak tackle. I swear Rioli created at least four goals last night by just hunting the ball or laying tackles. When the pressure is up, we have no one other than Shuey who can drive the ball forward by crashing packs and standing up in a tackle. Sometimes that's all you need to do. Instead we have a pack of fairies who stand around the pack and then fart around with little one-metre dinky handballs. We should get rid of that 'time to hunt' sign and replace it with 'be like Shue'.

Priddis - retire
Butler - retire
Lecras - retire
Emac - retire
Masten - depth to EP
Redden - depth to EP
Schoey - depth to EP

Mutimer - Midfield
Watson - Wing and HB
Rioli - Forward pocket
Cole - HB mid rotation
Venables - Midfield

Giles back to EP for Naita or Lycett
Vardy to CHF
Darling to HFF
Shuey to get the C

B: Nelson Barrass Hurn
HB: Wellingham Gov Yeo
C: Gaff Sheed Mutimer
HF: Darling Vardy Hill
F: Cripps Kennedy Rioli
R: Naita/Lycett, Shuey(C) Mitchell
I: Venables, Cole, Watson, Sheppard

It is a massive red flag that so many of us want to see a Cat B rookie in the side. Lewis Jetta has so many of the tools we need but just refuses to use them.
