Priddis, Butler, Mitchell, LeCras, Petrie - Retire

Masten, Redden, Jetta, Darling, Hill, McKenzie - Delist/Trade

Should be able to pick up a few draft picks and bring the next wave of youngsters and leaders through and build for the future. Elevate a couple off the rookie list and pick a few new rookies.

We do have talented kids that we never play... Should drop Masto, Hill, Reddo and trade Mackenzie
Which talented kids are you talking about? We've played Nelson, Sheed and Duggan this year, and will debut Mutimer. Who else stands out as uninjured and deserving of a spot this week?

Daniel Venables, Luke Partington, Willie Rioli and Francis Watson will impress when they get there chance

But aren't you advocating for them to play now?

One is making his way back, other 3 are injured?

My original post was not for the now or this week, yes you are right they are injured... but not long term. The point I was making was Simmo needs to start playing our kids. Woosha was guilty of doing this, he kept playing out past stars embers, kerr ect until 2010-2011. He never played Gov in his last year of coaching wish he did.

Barrass also

Sheed 22 ( Age) - 41 games ( Mid)
Nelson 21 - 21 Games ( HBF possible mid)
Duggan 20 - 28 games (Mid)
Barrass 21 - 21 games ( KFD)
Mutimer 20 - 0 games ( Mid)

Spewing Nelson is injured as he would be still playing this week even with the addition of Mutimer , so it isn't exactly like we do not play the kids.

If we can get some more games into:

Cole 20 - 2 Games ( HBF)
Parto 20 - 0 Games (HBF)
Vernables - 19 - 0 Games (HBF)
Rioli 21 - 0 games ( Small forward)
Francis Watson 21 - 0 games ( HBF/HFF possible wingman)
Karpany 21 - 1 Game ( HHF/Mid)

My only concern is we have no young KP depth coming through except for Barrass down back and Allen who is under developed.

Allen is short as much as anything, he will fill out well. It is a real shame Fraser is such a potato.

We are in strife because we need to seriously look at talls again and we still haven't fixed the midfield.

If Duggan et al flop we are going to spend a few years in the outer.

Yeah i think Allen is more a second tall prospect but i guess we will see and hope he can develop further. We still need to keep playing Duggan, Nelson, Sheed, Mutimer and Co this year and they should be aiming to push the likes of Lecra, Hill, Masten & Butler out the squad.

Schofield and Emac are good depth but are aging so we 100% need another young defender to go along with Barrass and Gov. We 100% need a key forward and possible young ruck to develop, at worst once JK hangs up the boots we can play Gov forward along side Darling who are both still young.

Gaff should have been traded back to a Melbourne club while he still has trade value. He might get the ball all day long but has no impact at all, just like Priddis.
Redden for pick 17 has proved to be a total flop. Been given plenty of chances.
Masten should never play for us again. Fumbly as f%ck, can't kick and is another one pace runner.
Butler is just holding back other players development
Priddis should be phased out by the end of this season, given tagging roles only.
Hill is another list clogger.
LeCras isn't competitive enough any more, 31 in august.

Overall most of our senior players have tailed off this year. We need to find out if any of these younger blokes can play and the longer we play them the further we are away from our next flag.

I'm not too worried yet. Barrass and Gov are young and cover us long-term down back. JK could play until he's 36 the way he's going. Also, the likelihood of a Hogan or Lobb type returning home at some stage looms reasonably large.

Embers and Kerr were big in 2011/2012.

Priddis - RETIRE. Well past it.
Masten - TRADE - too weak, too slow, and disposal is not good enough to make up for his lack of physical attributes
Redden - DELIST. barely WAFL reserves quality. Wont get anything in a trade.
Butler - RETIRE. Too old, too slow.
Gaff - TRADE. Probably an unpopular opinion. Has no right foot. Too soft. Too slow. Should compete in marathons not play footy. Could get something decent for him.
Darling - TRADE. Dont let his joe the goose goal stats fool you. Has reached his potential and its not good enough. Could get something decent for him.
Anyone surprised to see the above 6 having no influence in the 1st half when the game was up for grabs? Im not. Keep on eye on these blokes when the intensity of a game goes up. They are why we have the "flat track" moniker assigned to our team, and its fair enough. We arent going anywhere until we have inject faster, harder bodies into these positions.

Agree with the first four but you're too harsh on Gaff and Darling, despite Darling's fumbles in important finals 17 other clubs would pick him up in an instant, not too many young key forwards playing second fiddle with better stats

Your harsh on Gaff and Darling, even if JD is the biggest cocktease in history.
both look good in a winning side. When their backs are against the wall they are nowhere to be seen. Darlings performance in the 2015 GF was embarrassing enough, then the following year ducking his head in the elimination final against the Bulldogs told me everything i needed to know. He would be better off at another club with a fresh start IMO.

Gaff... well what do we say here. He is an accumulator. Relies on others to win the ball, and just doesnt have the body to compete when the chips are down. If its raining, or the intensity lifts physically you just know he will go out of the game. Having said that he is our 2nd best midfielder. Would still rather someone taller who can kick both sides of the body and can lay a hard tackle when needed.

Every premiership team has front running passengers. At least a few.

Geelong, Collingwood & the Hawks, all had them. Saints of 2008-2010 had half a dozen spuds that only Ro$$ Tha Bo$$ could make use of.

yeah but we have too many front runners.

The wingmen of the 92 and 94 premiership years were Matera and Mainwaring and neither of those were front running. Matera would get his own hard ball, while Mainy would help out in defense. 06 premiership Braun was tough as nails on the wing, and Embley would run back with the flight of the ball to take marks. Our current wingmen put in piss weak efforts when the game is on the line.

As for comparing Darling to premiership half-forwards of 92, 94 and 06, its a bit harder, but what ive seen of Darling in big moments makes me vomit.
