Looks like a decision on whether Bridgewater's contract tolls is something that is determined between the NFL and the NFLPA and is something the Vikings have no say in (which makes sense to me)

If the NFL/NFLPA agree that Bridgewater's contract has tolled he will not be a free agent and will have to play another year for the Vikings on his 4th year salary.

on a similar note (but not in dispute because the contract has clearly tolled) Sharif Floyd's contract for 2017 has tolled and because it is guaranteed is now applicable to the 2018 salary cap. The Vikings can continue to hold Floyd on IR or come to an injury settlement (which would pay out the entire guaranteed amount) to remove him from IR.
Is there a general inkling as to which way it will go?

Bridgewater's contract tollling is a long shot. I'm pretty sure the argument will go that he was medically cleared prior to week 6 and therefore tolling is not an option.

Teddy was on IR so he couldn't return until week 6, but that doesn't mean he was medically unfit to play prior to then.

Only the Vikings and Bridgewater would really know and there's always the possibility that the team doctor said no but Bridgewater's doctor said yes.

It's something that the NFL has to work out and could be voided by the Vikings extending Bridgewater prior to any decision being handed down

Details of Erc Kendricks new contract:

Signing bonus: $10.5 million.
2018 base salary: $1.138 million, fully guaranteed. (this is the final year under his rookie deal, the next five years are the new deal although his signing bonus will be pro-rated from 2018 on (5 years max)
2019 base salary: $4.15 million, guaranteed for injury only at signing, and fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster the third day of the 2019 league year.
2020 base salary: $7.15 million, guaranteed for injury only at signing, and fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster the third day of the 2020 league year.
2021 base salary: $8.15 million.
2022 base salary: $9.15 million.
2023 base salary: $9.15 million.
Annual per-game roster bonuses of $250,000, for 2019 through 2023.
Annual workout bonuses of $100,000, for 2019 through 2023.

Cap Numbers: 2018 $3.74 million, 2019 $6.6 million, 2020 $9.6 million, 2021 $10.6 million, 2022 $11.6 million, 2023 $9.5 million.

The deal looks awesome from a cap perspective for the Vikings and puts them in a good position to be able to re-sign most of their upcoming 2019 free agents Anthony Barr, Danielle Hunter and Stefon Diggs. There's also a 5th year option for Trae Waynes to consider.

By my calculations the Vikings currently have just under $17 million in cap space this year and have just over $35 million in cap space for 2019 (not counting any carry over from 2018)

Vikings.com have listed UDFA Hercules Mata’afa as a linebacker.

Mata’afa went into the draft listed as a defensive lineman, but his size (6'2" and 254lbs) makes him too small to play on an NFL DL. Mata’afa main hope to make the team would be as a special teamer and he MAY develop into a linebacker over time - he's definitely a project!

Terence Newman back for 2018!

Just to have Newman back as a mentor is a major plus, and at veteran minimum his value far exceeds what it cost to sign him. I don't expect many snaps from Newman, and at 40 I hope he doesn't have to have many snaps, but he has proven valuable at all three CB positions and safety as well.

The DB depth chart looks SO much better than it did last year although there's hardly any change (all due to player development and the drafting of Mike Hughes):

LCB Trae Waynes, Terence Newman, Mike Hughes, Marcus Sherels
SS Andrew Sendejo, Jayron Kearse
FS Harrison Smith, Anthony Harris
RCB Xavier Rhodes, Mackensie Alexander

The other DBs on the roster (Cornerbacks Horace Richardson, Jack Tocho, Holton Hill, Trevon Mathis and Safety Tray Matthews) are probably training camp fodder but someone might step up and force someone like Marcus Sherels (who is really a specialist punt returner, not a DB) off the roster.

I wouldn't be surprised if Newman ends up back as a DB coach some time after he retires.

Looks like the Mata’afa experiment is over for the time being with Hercules suffering an ACL during OTAs

Mata’afa was a long shot to make the roster and had been moved from linebacker to defensive end prior to his season ending injury

Like the way the 2/3's responded after losing the lead.

A few guys putting in great 1st auditions. Doesn't have big yards but Mick Boone is a baller.

The competition for the #3 RB position is going to be one to follow during the pre-season. Mack Brown, Mike Boone, and Roc Thomas all played well with Thomas putting his hand up with a couple of impressive catches. Brown and Boone both rushed better than Thomas though....

On another note, after getting more off-season hype it also looks like Treadwell continues to struggle once the team actually plays games. He was on the field for 41 snaps for just a single target, at least he caught it I suppose.

How we going to go this season? Bit concerned about the offence still, particularly the O line and the injuries there.

Sacking Forbath and hitching our hopes on the rookie is an interesting move and still a bit of an unknown quantity with our running game, if Cook isn't good to go.

Hoping like hell our O line is good enough to protect Cousins

Son woke me up at 4:30.

Game seems out of hand and i go back to bed thinking oh that crafty peg-leg Rodgers.

Get up again at 6ish and it is a tie.

One of the reasons the Vikings signed Cousins was his ability to move the ball when the team is trying to play catch-up. The plan is, obviously, to play with a lead, but I doubt the 2017 Vikings would have even got close if the game situation was the same and as a fan you've got to take solace in the 4th quarter performance of the team.

Having said that it's going to be an interesting couple of days on the kicker front - I would imagine Dan Bailey's phone has been ringing off the hook!

Former Dallas kicker Dan Bailey having a physical.

Signed former Washington and 49er WR Aldrick Robinson. Hopefully to replace cymbal mits Treadwell

Couple more seasons and Treadwell can make the Training Camp HOF.
