I believe Big Will deserved a week. Showed little if any effort to avoid contact and given his recent misdemeanours should have done better.

If it was truly an accident, where was his (even loose attempt at an) apology? Poor form from Will. I love the guy and his on field (well directed) aggression, but when his career is done and dusted, it'll be littered with multiple indiscretions taking credit away from what will in all likelihood be a very good career.

Time to clean your act up. We need your aggression on the field, not in the strands.

Bout time someone actually got out and put some physical presence on Griffen's tagger, watching Griffen get little support day in day out this year became tiresome. Given our season is long over, Will's biggest error is not doing enough damage to his opponent in this case, should have put him in some serious pain and send a message to opposition taggers.

So he was Griff's so called tagger. Plot thickens

Barely touched him, no impact to player - hardly a multiple week suspension
Cant work out the Tribunal, you can hit a player behind play and get the same suspension (remember Addison's?)
At least sanity prevails in the end.

I am confused why the club contested this at all. The incident looked ugly, a week off would make no material difference to the Geelong game and fellow supporters will feel that a week was probably the minimum deserved if not more. There is no real upside to contesting so why face a backlash from other supporters and media types who will only be too happy to put the boot in to us and Will, let alone have the charge being upgraded to include next year?

Let's keep our tribunal appearances to when they really count.

Why should we appease anyone but our own? ****ing ridiculous comment. Surely the Club has only itself to look after here, we want him out there, felt there was a chance to make that happen and got a good result. Well done Will and the FFC.

The MRP and Tribunal is a joke. We exploited it. Blame the AFL and the atrocious football media if you're not happy. I hate the system, stomping, jumper punches etc should cop weeks, but they don't. So why would we roll over and take it?

A) he wasn't risking any extra weeks by contesting

B) who gives a flying **** about backlash from other supporters and media types, it will be or gotten about by next week, given the match reviews inconsistency we are bound to be stitched up at some point so you take he good with the bad, he was lucky but beat the system.

If he really didn't intend to do it naturally he would like to clear his name esp after the last episode also less carry over points if he is pinged again :thumbsu:

You should be thankful he didn't stomp on a north melbourne player. You'd never hear the end of it.

Yep, all sorts of conspiracy theories and whining would come from those poor widdle victims.

On Minson, I think he is pretty lucky, it didn't look good. Agreed with everyone's views on the tribunal being a joke.

Will is lucky, called out Robbo and Barrett on twitter over it all the same. :)

Robbo is the only one who doesn't block when you question him. I questioned Barett and Ralphy this year and they both blocked me. I'd punch Barrett if I saw him, I hate his tabloid journalism and him! No journalist grinds on me more than that imbecile.

I think the result here is outrageous.
I have been following footy for 60 years and through all that time anything that came anywhere near kicking (including stomping, stamping, whatever) was regarded as the worst you could do. I recall Gordon Hynes at Geelong and Barry Pascoe at North getting 8 or more weeks for such like. I also remember John Peck flattening Brian Sawley because he believed Sawley's boot had come in contact with him.
I would have thought we all would have that inculcated into us from the time we started playing the game, so that you would instinctively avoid your boots/feet getting you into trouble. Watch any match and you will see players instinctively avoiding colliding with their feet (Mitch Robinson from Carlton hurdling a player to his own disadvantage, but ensuring that he didn't injure the opponent) ; and hear the howls of horror when someone "kicks in danger" (Milne against Jolly a week or two back; Tuohy from Carlton on the weekend).
I have no problem with Footscray trying to get Minson off under the system. That's the system and they are entitled to use it. Good luck to them.
But I do have two concerns - firstly, Minson. That was not a good look, and to a long-time fan, that was both avoidable, and unnecessary. His body language then, and his subsequent actions, suggest no remorse or apology, or any indication that he aws out of line. To anyone watching the video it looks deliberate, and many on this forum agree.
Secondly, and far more importantly, the MRP are out of order! The Hunt/Betts incident earlier this year, and this incident, should have brought a penalty in the 2 to 4 weeks range at least, without question. The game is fantastic, but anything to do with kicking/stamping/stomping is beyond the pale.

C) Minson and the club would want to clear his name
D) The club is supporting its players like any good club should do.
