this whole situation has shown why women have absolutely no place on or off a footy field

wtf did this ever have to do with lucy cornes

I would've thought even you would think they have a place off the field? The kitchen or laundry perhaps?

Um take a look at Lucy's Facebook page, there are equally filthy words by her supporters, some even bordering on death threats.
My personal fave:

that Mason bloke that plays is a bloody idolt

Just quality from the Lucy Cornes Admiration Society ...

I don't condone them either. What Minson said, whichever version you take, is unacceptable, what a lot of posters in this thread have said is unacceptable (and it seems some of the more disgusting posts have been removed) and I won't bother to check out the Facebook page, I'll take your word for it, is unacceptable.

This whole issue has served to bring the tone and the average IQ of the footy community to new depths.

You want to see the depths that bigfooty posters can reach read though any thread to do with racism.

Then there was the gay AFL players thread. Oh also the thread about having prayer rooms at the football.

This thread has nothing on them.

way to take my comment out of context. at which point did i say that??

women are largely irrational creatures, this is the proof..

lucy cornes had absolutely no business sticking her nose in this, she has inflamed the situation massively and will probably come out of this with her own TV show..

it's lara bingle'esque

I bet you're a hit with the ladies ;)

maybe focus on the topic at hand instead of being "smart"

my escapades with women are not the topic here

Just so Lucy has more of a say than just people stalking her Facebook and paraphrasing what she has said on there:

"Mrs Cornes was outraged Minson was still employing the same verbal techniques to throw off opponents.
"I'm disappointed that an incident we chose to put behind us in 2008 has resurfaced," she told The Advertiser yesterday.
"His alleged repeat offence makes the apology he issued in 2008 seem somewhat trivial." She said she wanted to show Minson the faces of sick children and to meet abused women to teach him the insensitivity of his comments.
"I would love to have the opportunity to take Will to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne or to a women's shelter, so that he can see firsthand the difference between a `game' and `life'," she said."

That article just shows that she's hijacked another incident to ride as her own hobby horse.

That really goes against the shit that was said when the cameras weren't on.

Also as pointed out Will Minson works with charities. If true that he is involved with Aboriginal children then he has probably seen abused children.

So you're saying he should know better?

Seems to me the chain needs to be shortened a bit Kane.

That should be the inference Bernie. If a person in a position of power and has topical education/experience, the theory that they should know better almost certainly applies.

As a side, I'm neither here nor there for either party. Sledging never particularly bothered me but I'm also mindful that what I consider fair game or the boundaries of propriety may be considerably different for others. It's all a matter of personal taste and opinion.

I run a small business. Blue collar guys, 13 in a workshop.

If anybody said anything remotely like what Minson said in the first instant with Cornes and is alleged to have said in the second instant with Pearce, they would be sacked on the spot. I am not sure what workplace you are talking about.

Also, I played soccer at a semi professional level. I never heard, not once, a comment about anybody's mother, ever. If anybody had said anything about my mother on the field, I would have put their nose through their face.

We are in 2012. Surely, people know where the line is drawn. Just play football.

You mustn't have played in a very good semi-pro league then, mother comments are said regularly enough.

Particularly to get under soft players' skins. Sounds like it would have worked a treat on you...

BTW, I believe a reaction to a mother/sister comment potentially cost France the World Cup in 2006.

So you're saying he should know better?
Of course. BUT that depends on what was actually said and the meaning behind it. Sledging is obviously a dying tactic.

Anyway he should have learned the first time around to think before he speaks in the heat of the moment. I don't think this should take away from what he's public persona is though.

It's hard to defend without sounding like a dickhead.

I love people suggesting that in 2012, a husband should control what his wife says on social media.

Shorter chain etc....

While what Will said may not be exactly acceptable, it will only be a drop in the ocean on what Pearce will hear the next time he takes the field vs the Doggies in Melbourne...

He is a pro-athlete, sledging has always been part of the game and he should be able to deal with it.

Well, I think Lucy should shut her trap. I also think this thread turned a tad disturbing at the hypothetical child killing about 6 pages back!
i'm glad we are on the same page there :thumbsu:

Was very much let through to the keeper that one.

Most of it is joking.

Me me me.. If the comments are so bad, Pearce is the one she should be concerned for but she's turned it all onto being about her and the comments said years ago..
