Since when should the wife of a footballer have any weight in any AFL incidents? Sounds like that women needs to STFU and stick with her industry instead of abusing a AFL player on twitter.

Very very surprised that the AFL or Port Adelaide haven't said anything in this regard.

That to me is the real issue

But according to the Cornes family, sledging about cancer and chemotherapy aren't just kosher, they're "quite funny"...

******* hypocrites.

different reactions too. Rama and his missus furious, want to fire up, but he accepts the apology and wants to leave it at that, and does.

Cornes bring this up in unrelated circumstances 4 years later, with fresh demands for cash donations to their favoured charity

What relevance does this have with saying to Danyle Pearce "I ****** your mum"?
Nothing at all

Thats not what he said. Why would anyone care if that's what he said? Use logic, Pearce is tagged everyweek, he would have heard this a hundred tiems. It was clearly worse than this.

Just a few things that are going over people's heads:

Lucy Cornes saying it resurfacing is because Will Minson supposedly apologised in 2008 about going over the top with his on field sledging, and this new incident undermines that apology. That seems to be the gist of why she made the comments she did. Not sure why anyone actually cares what she's saying - most of you lot seem more outraged by her comments than she is by Minson's.

Anyone saying:

Is wrong.

"AFL media relations manager Patrick Keane said that while the Power had not made an official complaint, the issue had been brought to the attention of the Match Review Panel, with its finding to be released on Monday afternoon."

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/138830/default.aspx

So, let's go over the facts shall we:

- Will Minson made over-the-top comments about Danyle Pearce's mother, who was obviously affected by them.
- An umpire submitted an incident referral form about the sledging to the AFL.
- Port Adelaide did not make an official complaint.
- Minson has once again gone too far with his sledging and this has opened old wounds for Lucy Cornes, who publicly lashed out.
- Posters on BigFooty come on to say that Pearce is soft, the Port Adelaide Football Club is soft and Lucy Cornes shouldn't have an opinion on anything (unless she's an anonymous poster on an Internet message board).

How dare you ruin everyones fun with facts!!

I think I missed something. What did the Cornes say about cancer?

He said on 5AA that he thought Montgomery saying chemo %$^#ed with Rama's brain was rather funny.

Port fans in their thread didn't disagree for the most part, thinking whats said on the field should stay there.

To the credit of a few, some did wonder if that view would change if it was one of their own being sledged.

I don’t care about the Pearce issue, but he crossed the line with Cornes’ kid. It is an unwritten rule, with anybody, rappers, gangsters, bikies, whoever…leave kids out of it. Minson said a comment about Cornes’ kid, which would have cut Lucy quite deep. So when this flog said something to Pearce, it opened up an old wound of Lucy’s. Do any of you tough guys who do not condone what she did get that? You tough guys are too tough to even see that. Do any of you have kids? Further, do any of you have kids with health problems? If your answer is no and no, then shut the **** up because you have no right to comment as far as Lucy’s actions are concerned because you have no idea of what she would have gone through. You think that what happens on a football field should stay on a football field? I do, but as soon as you bring a kid into it, you are fair game to anything that happens to you later on. And saying something to Pearce is something that happened later on. Okay he apologised for bringing Cornes’ kid into it, big ****. He had to because he got caught. Apologising doesn’t make it right though. But then he goes and reoffends. It’s not what he said to Pearce that opened up Lucy’s wound, it’s the fact he said anything at all.

I'm glad you know the unwritten rule of gangs. Kids are never the victim when they are involved.
If only the terrorists followed the unwritten rule as well.

By your logic then Minson should never speak ever again in case it offends Lucy?
I've read some crap on here before but this may take the cake.

Yes does an over the top sledge once every four years make you a recidivist.

"[Pearce] said it reminded him of former St Kilda star Nicky Winmar's stand against racism."

Soapbox industry must be thriving.

Joffre Pearce (Pearce's dad) in the Herald I think?

Its a completely unrelated incident that should really not be brought into this matter and he didn't say anything about cancer.

How many weeks for a yo mommas so fat joke ??
Actually champ, it is related. Grandpa Cornes weighed in yesterday with his high-horse opinion that Minson was a disgrace for what he said.

What did happen in 2004 - and I'm the one who bumped that post - is when Ramanauskas was sledged by Montgomery that 'the chemo had gone to his head', Grandpa Cornes thought it was 'quite witty'.

I thought Cornes' comments back then were off, they're just made worse when he decided to saddle up the high horse when his family is involved.

You do realise you arsehat that it was a Western Bulldogs favourite in Brett Montgomery that had a go at Rama, and not Kane or Lucy Cornes dont you? Of course you did

Of course I did.

After which, Graham Cornes decided that he found the comments "quite funny".

Which is a fair way removed from his weighing in yesterday with "what Minson said yesterday was in no way acceptable".

Thus, from this we can establish that the Cornes family sees cancer and chemotherapy as a laughing matter, but draw the line at abusing someone's mother.

It reminds me of Monica Lewinsky's stand against sexual harrassment at work. Or Martin Luther King's stand against racism. Or Winston Churchill's stand against Hitler.

FFS.

I get the fact you guys are standing up for Pearce. Fair enough. He's your player. And that's why you're refusing to see the logic behind Cornes thinking the Rama sledge was acceptable but Minson's wasn't.

Graham Cornes made the comment, not the Cornes family, they are different things. That is logic, they are sperate. I'm not defending Graham Cornes at all.

Now boldling your comment I can't see how you can put those words in my mouth, I am not talking about Graham Cornes. Only people deflecting from Will Minson want to discuss Graham Cornes.

How can any port fan see that a mum sledge is such a horrible thing? Of all the sledges to take offense from the players ( Pittard and Pearce ) seems to be most upset over a mum sledge.

Gee they need to ****ing harden up honestly instead of getting others to fight their battles.

Joffre Pearce (Pearce's dad) in the Herald I think?

Yes, apologies, it was Pearce's dad. But if we're going to keelhaul players every time their conduct is less than gentlemanly, there won't be many left. It's impossible to keep up the pretence that footballers are wholesome role models. Anyone who hasn't seen through the AFL's charade by now is a fool.

Have a look at Lucy's Facebook page. It's almost impossible to disassociate any of the Corneses from each other on this one when they're posting in support of each other. Gotta admit, I feel for Kane atm - probably the last thing he needed this week.
