Friday night at Harold Park sees this years Miracle Mile.Field includes:
Inter Dominion winner Blacks a Fake
Last years MM winner Be Good Johnny
Newcastle Mile Winner Pay Me Christian
NZ Cup winner Flashing Red
NZ FFA winner Sly Flyin
Despite all this, the barrier draw has made this an intriguing contest.
Favourite is BG Johnny (1) around the $3 mark.Normally that draw would see him shorter but he's not brilliant out of the gate & is likely to be leaders back at best.NB Theres no sprint lane at harold park so he'll need luck.
If he does happen to hold the lead,he's almost unbeatable in front.
Sly Flyin is a Kiwi who has Tony Herlihy aboard, considered one of the best.
He comes off a NZ FFA win last week where he ran down Flashing Red.
Needs it run to suit but should get it from 2.Around $4.50
Toe Taper is the lone Victorian who won a "heat" last week at HP.Not a brilliant beginner either,he's probably in the same category as S Flyin.
Up & Comer, if he gets the luck he'll finish hard, can get $31
Flashing Red is an iron horse who just keeps giving. Not suited at the sprint trip but is low flying.Only the 2nd Australian to win the NZ Cup,around $9
Smooth Crusa is a local who has good gate speed & likely leader.Last start 2nd to P M Christian at Newcastle.
Doubt he's good enough to win because theyll be queueing up to take him on if he leads but plenty like him at $16
Slipnslide is a top Qlder & stablemate of BGJ.Does have very good gate speed so likely to find a spot & would be a big hope of leading if SC heads off BGJ.Runner up last year & better hope than the $18 available.
Blacks A Fake is a rising star but has been beset with problems this time in
He's a winner but is short enough from 7 at $9
Pay Me Christian went mile in 1.52 at Newcastle & would be fave apart from drawing 8.Cant win if goes back but not many Miles are won from the death
Is around $6.5.
So tune in at 9.45pm,should be a ripper.
